Reid: Maclin has hip pointer
Daily News staff
Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin suffered a hip pointer during Sunday's 17-16 win over Cleveland, Andy Reid said at his day-after news conference on Monday.
"He has a little bit of a hip flexor there, too," Reid said about Maclin. "The hip pointer, with those things they hurt you more the next couple of days. He battled through it. You have to give him credit for it."
Reid did not indicate if Maclin will miss Sunday's game against Baltimore. If he does, Reid said Riley Cooper (collarbone) will not replace him.
"It was good to get a win in," Reid said. "I thought defensively we came out and played very well, really in all phases of defense, against the run and pass. I thought the defense set a great tempo. They played fast and furious football."
Reid also talked about Michael Vick's performance. "Michael took the blame yesterday," Reid said. "It wasn’t a one-man show. Everybody had a piece of this pie. From me to the coaches … to the play-calling, the penalties. … You start looking at 456 yards of total offense and you’re not putting it in the end zone, that’s ridiculous.
"Everybody had a piece of this. It’s always going to fall on the quarterback's shoulders. He takes the responsibility and he takes it to heart. But when you put on the tape, everybody has to do their job."
Putting up 456 yards and not putting the ball in the end zone can be directly attributed to 5 turnovers, 4 of them by Vick. I thought I was watching Vince Young all over again. If this continues, we may see the beginning of the Nick Foles era sooner than expected. SteveS11
Vick will be released by the Philadelphia Eagles at the end of this season. All the guaranteed money on his bloated contract will be paid out by the end of this year. He can be released with minimal salary cap implications. bdd5014- DUMP VICK...START NICK

Denial is going to take you right out of the head coaching job, Andy. I've been among your strongest supporters your whole time with the Birds, but it would appear now that your time has passed. But, please, don't take Howie with you. He's the best part of the organization at the moment. Cactusjim- "Don't take Howie with you." Huh? What exactly has Howie proven? There's no way to know who's responsible for bringing in which player and calling him the "best part of the organization at the moment" means we're in even more trouble than I thought.

How about we run the ball 60% of the time and the interceptions do not happen. With one of the best running backs in the game, Reid is not just stupid but inept. joeynick- I agree that they should have run more, but McCoy did carry the ball 20 times. How many carries do you want him to get? The guy is going to get hurt at some point if you overload him. Then where are they? But Bryce Brown can get some of those extra carries.

Vick has tunnel vision. He sees the receiver but not the 2 or 3 defenders within 4 steps or directly in line with intended ball flight. Worse, Andy has tunnel vision too as he fails to see Vick as Vick is. How many top notch coaches in the NFL would brush off all those INT's with a "he's rusty" comment? warwhit1
in the 2nd quarter, they announced McCoy was averaging 9.5 years per carry (6 carries). And then they completely stopped going to him until mid-way through 4th quarter. NOT GOOD COACHING. potus
Reid is correct - pointing the finger at one guy is short sighted. The fingers need to pointed at Vick, who although he did not have great protection, time and again played like a rookie and threw into double and triple coverage, and the two headed Reid/Marty monster who continue to call terrible games. It has become extremely obvious to everyone that the Eagles are going to pass on first down 80% of the time, and if the pass is incomplete, they will run on second down the same 80% of the time. They rarely run on back-to-back plays, even when Lesean gains good yardage on a run, and they never, ever, get into a running rhythm where they play the hot hand and run several times in a row. Speaking of rhythm, the passing game has none at this point. Rhythm is developed by hitting quick, short and intermediate pass plays in succession. What happened to dropping back three or five steps and throwing the ball? It does not seem Vick is capable of this anymore. Every play is a roll out and looks like Vick scrambling to find an open receiver before getting to the side line. Ugly, undisciplined, stupid, football for an entire offense, over the course of the entire game. Credit Vick for willing the team to a winning score, but even that doesn't happen if Fort catches that ball that went through his hands in the end zone. The defense played well, but they were facing Weeden and Richardson. This could get very ugly next Sunday, when the names change to Flacco and Rice, along with Lewis and Reed on the defensive side of the ball... topwonk
run the ball Andy. Tyrone Biggums
Vick didn't hardly have a preseason, so of course he is rusty. For you Negadelphians who are looking for a reason to cry and complain, there was plenty in his performance that would give you a reason to do so. I prefer to look at the game winning drive, and remain optimistic. A win is a win. Paul SoTX
