Reid: Failures on both sides of the football

Andy Reid took his normal approach after an Eagles loss, saying on Monday at his day-after news conference that he takes the blame and that he "needs to put players in better positions."

"All in all, we obviously need to do a better job," Reid said after the Eagles' 27-6 loss at Arizona on Sunday. "I need to do a better job as a head football coach. It's my responsibility if there's failures on both sides of the football. That obviously comes back to the head football coach. Getting your team prepared is important, so I take full responsibility for that.

"We need to coach better, we need to prepare better and we need to play better. We played a good football team and one of the things we've talked about  ... is you cannot turn the football over against a good football and expect to win."

About injuries, Reid said Fletcher Cox had migranes during the game. "He has a history of those," Reid said. Akeem Jordan has a hamstring strain. Riley Cooper (collarbone) will get checked. King Dunlap "is getting better with a hamstring strain," Reid said. "If we had a practice today, he wouldn't practice."

Reid also said Jeremy Maclin (hip contusion) is making progress.

Reid also said he was sticking with Mike Vick at quarterback.

Same Sh*%, different day....Hello Jeffery.....Can you not see the man has selected players for the o-line that do not even belong in the league......Can you not see that his schemes are not working and he is too stubborn and refuses to adjusts.....Can you not see that your QB is getting killed....Can you not see that JC is over-matched.....Can you not see that this trainwreck is heading downward because YOU have enabled the archetect of inept players, poor drafting and lousey coaching hires, and a acheme that fails to adjust is run by a man too stubborn......Tade him to SD for anything and hire someone with a brain.....Please

anyone who thinks Foles as a rookie, will give us a better chance to win then Vick is a fool! with that said, Im at the point that I cant wait for Vick to get hurt! Y would I want Vick to get hurt, if I think he gives us a better chance then a rookie? hear me out:

I am sick of watching video game football! Im tired of it! Its simply not the way I like football to be played. When reid is on his game, he is a fantastic coach...but I just dont like the way he coaches when his starting quarterbacks play. The best coaching reid has ever done is when his starting qb goes down! When reid had to go into a game with aj feely, or garcia...thats when reid did his best work! when the starting qb goes down, reid actually does so much to help his qb, and more times then not we have been successful, although we were out gunned at the qb position. Reid tries to do too much, and expects too much from his starting QB's...and his game plans are a direct reflection! when Reid respects/fears his opponent, and when reid has the back up qb in the game, he has been a fantastic coach, helping the qb out with excellent game plans, more balanced run game, tightends staying in and blocking. That has been when reid has done his best qwork...and thats y I cant wait for Vick to get hurt

I give Vick 3 games before he has another season ending injury. He gets crushed in the pocket and beaten to a pulp when he runs. I'm suprised Vick survivied the game.

I was watching the game from NY. Did any philly sportscaster explain why the Eagles took the holding penalty when they had just sacked Kolb and thrown him for a loss? Why wasn't it declined (especially after the game was stopped so the Foot Locker guys could explain everything to two thick coaches??)? Why give the Cards another down?

Hey Andy, you know what? You're lucky to be 2-1 because the way you have coached, this team should be 0-3. Yesterday was not a loss, it was an outright beating and shellacking. Your team stunk!

Andy - you are a good person who probably has reached the point where you need to spend some time away from the game. After about 12 years, one of the longer stints of all coaches in the NFL, the wear and tear on the psychological and physical strains over this time take their toll. For the sake of your players, your coaches and for your self, you should take a leave of absence.

Indicators of a need to do this is: (1) your game strategies are predictable; (2) other teams know the way you approach the game, the way you operate and therefore can successfully predict your game calls; (3) in spite of the fact the tired old refrain - "The head coach should prepare his team better, etc." really rings not so true when we hear this time and time again; (4) for the sake of your players who honor you, respect you, their safety is more important than their support for you. For the sake of the team, the owner, your coaches, and the fans....it is time Andy to take a leave of absence.

Graziano on espn has good critique of Reed taking responsibility afterwards instead of before the game as he should

I sent that admission to Jefferey Lurie.

They did not take the penalty, the refs called holding on the play and arbitrarilly assesed the penalty without asking the Eagles if they wanted it. Even Reid knew to ask the refs what they were doing. That's when and why it went to 2nd down with just about the same yardage to go for the first. Unbelievable.

One game closer to that Pink Slip. Would someone tell me where the Eagles' strength is at? This is worse than last year....
