Reid: Failures on both sides of the football

Andy Reid took his normal approach after an Eagles loss, saying on Monday at his day-after news conference that he takes the blame and that he "needs to put players in better positions."

"All in all, we obviously need to do a better job," Reid said after the Eagles' 27-6 loss at Arizona on Sunday. "I need to do a better job as a head football coach. It's my responsibility if there's failures on both sides of the football. That obviously comes back to the head football coach. Getting your team prepared is important, so I take full responsibility for that.

"We need to coach better, we need to prepare better and we need to play better. We played a good football team and one of the things we've talked about  ... is you cannot turn the football over against a good football and expect to win."

About injuries, Reid said Fletcher Cox had migranes during the game. "He has a history of those," Reid said. Akeem Jordan has a hamstring strain. Riley Cooper (collarbone) will get checked. King Dunlap "is getting better with a hamstring strain," Reid said. "If we had a practice today, he wouldn't practice."

Reid also said Jeremy Maclin (hip contusion) is making progress.

Reid also said he was sticking with Mike Vick at quarterback.

Yes Andy do a better job of putting player's in a better position. I don't think you can blame Vick, the OL, or the receivers. The Eagles are just that predictable. All the cards had to do was pin the hair back and go. The sprint draw is their best run play. Line up in the I and run 25 1st and 2nd down. Give the offense the benefit of surprise, you get the OL and QB beat up by passing so much. Defense is good enough to win games now. Time for the birds to ground and pound. If it don't work in the first half then you can throw like crazy MARTY RUN THE BALL PLEEEEZ

Vick must stop the turnovers, but the O-line needs to drink some nasty juice. They need to pop someone in the mouth and protect their QB. They're driving Ms. Daisy when they need to be going Rambo. There's a problem when the skill players play with more intensity than the guys in the trenches.

I have a chart. Its laminated. It has all our plays on it. 20 pass plays. 3 runs- Left, Right, and middle. Has anyone seen it? I think I left in the desk drawer.

Eagles could easily make a movie titled "the three stooges", First you have Howie who looks like he's never even played any kind of football, Then there is Andy, who is such a genius at recognizing talent ,passed on Earl Thomas and Jpierre paul, and picks guys like jarret and mcdougle etc. Then there is Lurie who knows how much the Eagle fans want a super bowl yet stays 15 million under the cap.Andy, Howie and Jeffery, nuk nuk nuk

You guys won't belive this, Andy has a pretty good idea of what he is doing !! Let Vick keep passing till he gets hurt and then bring Foles or Edwards in.... It's all in AR's conspiracy.. The other funny thing is that "if" Vick lights up the Giants next week most (not all) of you whiny a** bit**y fans will be back on the Superbowl bandwagon. I'm a huge Eagles Fan have been for 30+yrs, seen the ups and downs, but in the end, it's just a football game for entertainment.. Some of you haters need counseling for the anger.... or just get a life.... Lol

Reid covers for his players, and his coaches. Why does Morningweg get a pass? I did a search of 'Morningweg' on the comments and there were no mentions. The Eagles are a .500 team since that blowout on Monday Night against Washington in 2010. During that span they have been pretty bad in the red zone. The offensive game plans have been lacking, as have been the halftime adjustments.

The good news is the more Vick's takes a beating the earlier we might get rid of the guy to save our season. Every DC in the NFL knows how to defend against Vick just like every team in the MLB knows how to pitch to Ryan Howard. Who knows how easy it may be to defend against Andrew Bynum when he is the primary offensive weapon on the Sixers. Bynum sucks against the double team. Boy isn't it great to be a die-hard Philly fan.

Why doesn't some investigative reporter go back and check the transcripts of every Reid press conference and document the times he says the exact same things. THAT would be a fun article to read and why he should be fired TODAY

Reid needs to stop being so conventional and think outside the box. After the 3rd quarter obviously Mike Vick was not getting the job done on offense. And so it would have been better to put Nick Foles in because this would have thrown off the defense.Nick is tall and can see the field well and we neede points. I think nfl coaches have to get away from this idea that I have to keep my starting qb until he absolutely is not going to help us and put in their other qb sooner. If a running back like McCoy does not run on every play why can't Foles play on some plays. Also Reid underutilizes his rookies and waits too long to use them. I think Chris Polk is good for short yardage and would have probably scored before the first half ended with tacklers all over his back.

nice guy Andy went with McNabb for what? 10 yrs with some of the best defenses in the league, courtesy of Jimmie Johnson. T.O. finally exposed Donovan as the mediocre QB that he was. Westbrook carried Donovan with his 20 yd runs after a 2 yd pass. Now we have the mercurial Vick. An excellent athlete but not an excellent QB. Reid ,obviously can'r pick the most impoetant position on the field. Long overdue to wish Andy well in his next assistant coach endeavor.

-Shragez Let me explain, Andy Reid is a horrible game day coach and didn't take the holding call. It's because he's a stubborn idiot with his head up his behind on game day.
