UPDATED: Michael Vick said DeSean Jackson "is going to be fine," after the Eagles held a brief practice to prepare for their Thursday game against Houston.

"DeSean, that's my guy -- he's my right-hand man," Vick said the day after Jackson was openly upset in the visiting locker room, following a 31-26 loss to the Bears. Apparently, Eagles coach Andy Reid specifically criticized Jackson's demeanor when he admonished the team after the loss.

Jackson did not speak with reporters Sunday and ignored their questions as he left the NovaCare locker room yesterday.

"He took the loss very tough. Obviously, there were things he wanted to do better. But like I told him, there are things I wish I could have done better. So you can't get down on yourself."

Also, Asante Samuel returned to practice today during the Eagles' light workout as a limited participant. Samuel did not make the trip to Chicago because of a knee injury.

The only players to miss practice were Juqua Parker and Riley Cooper. Parker was inactive yesterday with a hip flexor strain. Cooper is listed with a knee injury.

Everyone else was a full participant, although K David Akers (right hamstring), CB Jorrick Calvin (back), G Nick Cole (knee), CB Trevard Lindley (knee), RB LeSean McCoy (shoulder) were listed on the injury report.

Even as we speak, reporters are itching for the end of today's light practice, so they can talk to wideout DeSean Jackson about his ill humor in the postgame locker room yesterday, which apparently had to do with a dressing-down from head coach Andy Reid.

But if there is anything we know about how business is conducted in the Reid era, particularly on an extra-short work week like this one, it's that this little flareup will be quickly consigned to the past. Reid will not address the matter with us, a team spokesman said, though he might be asked about it on his WIP radio show, which starts at 5:30. Jackson, expected to meet with Reid today, is surely going to be under orders from his coach not to fuel the fire.

The Eagles are not the Redskins, who benched Donovan McNabb and then kept the story alive through their bye week because they couldn't stop talking about it, and kept providing additional reasons for the move.

I'll be really shocked if anybody in the locker room today wants to provide any details, context or commentary beyond "we're thinking about the Texans now."

Also, I understand DJax is frustrated with his stats, but they'd be significantly better if he hadn't failed to bring in a catchable TD ball in each of the last two games.

BTW, Sunday's game was the season's highest-rated NFL contest, with an 18.0 rating and a 32 share.
