Penn State's King to Rams

This is probably not what Justin King was hoping for when he decided to forgo his senior season at Penn State.

The cornerback was chosen in the third round by St. Louis with pick No. 101.

NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock told the Daily News last week that King should have remained in school because he has the skills to be a first-rounder in 2009.

"I just feel the best thing for me is to move on to the next level," King said. "I think I'm ready."

Perhaps, but the third round is his fate, even when 10 cornerbacks went on Day 1.

The draft board among the players with local ties cleared quickly in Round 3 with Dan Connor, Steve Slaton and Justin King. The next players. we are keeping our eyes on are Jameel McClain from Syracuse and George Washington High and Jamar Brittingham from Bloomsburg and Neshaminy High.
