RUSHING OFFENSE: Playing with a fractured rib, LeSean McCoy rushed for almost a hundred yards and notched his fifth rushing touchdown of the season from 29 yards out. QB Kevin Kolb had a big 19-yard scramble on a third-and-18 play.
Grade: B-plus
PASSING OFFENSE: Kevin Kolb stood tall behind some shaky protection that saw him sacked 4 times. He completed 12 of 14 passes in the first half and had just 7 incompletions in the first 3 quarters.
Grade: A-minus
RUN DEFENSE: After giving up 169 rushing yards to the Redskins last week, the Eagles did a good job on the Niners’ Frank Gore, holding him to 2.6 yards per carry in the first 3 quarters.
Grade: B-plus
PASS DEFENSE: After doing a decent job against Alex Smith for three quarters, the Eagles suffered another fourth-quarter collapse. Smith completed 11 of his first 15 passes in the fourth quarter and threw 2 TD passes to get the Niners back in the game.
Grade: D
SPECIAL TEAMS: Eagles kickoff coverage was bad. They gave up 44- and 61-yard returns to Ted Ginn that kicked-started touchdown drives. David Akers had 2 field goals, including a clutch 45-yarder with 4½ minutes left that gave Eagles a 10-point lead.
Grade: D
OVERALL: The Eagles’ pass defense buckled in the fourth quarter, giving up 2 touchdowns that made this game closer than it should have been. But they hung on for the road win, as Kevin Kolb played turned in an impressive performance.
Grade: C
- Kolb played well, but I'll agree that the Eagles were doing everything they could to hand the game over to the 49ers. two of those three Kolb sacks can't be blamed on holding the ball too long - dunlap simply sucked. Put Austin Howard on the gameday roster, he can't do any worse. dpcoz
lol wolf. ANY other QB in there & you'd be talking about how the 9ers are 0-5 (remember all the games Mc5 won against lousy teams?), about every pass that should have been a pick & how they should switch to your boy toy. He looked decent at best & got a win against a team that did everything they could to lose this one. The plus out of this game is that KK did show some improvement, although there was little room to go down. A win is a win though. Whomever is at QB next week I'll be rooting for the Eagles from Section 243! Mabus
I just need somebody....Anybody to please tell me why D Jackson, and Macklin's stats drop when Kolb is in the game??? Thats 2 weeks in a row...2 Weeks!!!! If no one knows I'll tell u....He's scared of interceptions, no heart, no faith, no need to start. And Reid saw what in Kolb as a starter in camp???? He won't throw the ball down the field!!!! Hurry back Vick!!!!! filly fan
mabus,i here you brother, like i said from the get go,KK needs playing time without the wildcat,he's showing progression,it started in the end of first half/second half of the Deadskins game..BIG RED should stick with hot QB no problem with that..anybody see panpizza??LOL here panpizza LOL....wolf. wolf 4

D is a fair grade for the special teams. Isn't April supposed to be the guru of special teams coaches? Kolb deserves an A-, especially playing behind King Dunlap. The passing offense deserves a C, because the line is part of the passing offense. Other than Dunlap, though, the line was decent, and Herremans seemed to have a real good game. tacklinjoe

Kolb can get plenty of playing time in Buffalo...... Philly is just happy Kolb did not do anything to embarrass the Eagles last nite... I'm not paying for admission to the Linc until Vick returns... I just can't pay $100 Dollars to see a Quarterback that can't go down field to one of the Best Receiving corps in the NFL..... small ball will only take the Eagles so far.... Dexter

Some of you guys should be writing political commercials the way you spin.....fillyfan, in cased you didn't see the game, Macklin had 95 yards receiving!.....allaboutdatruth, you may have missed the standings, Eagles are not on the bottom they are tied for first. vincemcd
Eagles suck. How could they have lost yesterday. Oh they didn't, wouldn't know it from what I'm reading in here. notch44
as long as you realize you were grading on a curve....the niners ar a bad football team going nowhere and yes we won.....but let's not get carried away.......we sill nhve no linebackers who can cover, no run stoppers, no offensive line and no game day coaching ...... nuggett- We need a real QB playing for us, and his name is Mike Vick elijah29
I say Kolb was efficient. he did not win or lose the game. The problem is the defense is mediocre. Seems like things went straight down with the new D-coordinator. I say get a new D-coordinator ASAP! And add a couple of "real" safeties and LBs and corners while you're at it!!! cheesefry
The Skins are 2-0 in the division and beat a very good Packer team yesterday...Could #5 have the last laugh after all?? Lamby
