Paul Domowitch's Eagles-Cowboys Report Card

POSTED: Sunday, October 30, 2011, 11:31 PM

Here are Daily News columnist Paul Domowitch's grades for the Eagles' 34-7 rout of the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field.

Click here to send in your own grades for Sunday's win.

RUSHING OFFENSE: The Cowboys entered the game ranked first in the league against the run, holding opponents to 69.7 rushing yards per game. In the first half alone, LeSean McCoy torched them for 95 yards on 13 carries, including 21- and 35-yard runs and his seventh rushing touchdown of the season.

Grade: A

PASSING OFFENSE: Mike Vick was practically perfect in the first half, completing 13 of 17 passes for 187 yards and throwing two touchdown passes. He had a 150.9 passer rating at the half. The Eagles brought tight end Brent Celek out of mothballs in the first half. He had five catches for 73 yards and 9-yard touchdown catch that put the Eagles up 21-0.

Grade: A-plus

RUN DEFENSE: Because they fell behind so quickly and only had the ball for 9 minutes in the first half, the Cowboys had just seven first-half carries, and the Eagles were paying more attention to the pass than the run. But three of those seven carries went for 15-plus yards.

Grade: C

PASS DEFENSE: The Eagles set the tone early, sacking Tony Romo twice on the Cowboys’ first possession. Romo completed just four of eight passes in the first half, averaging just 4.5 yards per attempt, well below his 8.09 season average.

Grade: A-minus

SPECIAL TEAMS: An offsides penalty and a poor kick out of bounds by Alex Henery gave the Cowboys the ball at the 45-yard line right after the Eagles’ first score. Henery had 23- and 26-yard field goals. He’s booted 13 field goals this season, none longer than 39 yards. He has attempted only one longer than that, and that was a 63-yard Hail Mary.

Grade: B-plus

OVERALL: The Eagles have been slow starters all season, but they jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead in a game they absolutely had to have and never looked back. Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg kept Rob Ryan’s defense off-balance with a balanced run-pass diet, seldom showing them the same formation twice in a row.

Grade: A-plus

kind of a harsh grade for the rush defense. as a teacher, i would of given them a B. they just needed to contain, not make huge plays on run defense, and that is what they did.

ssmithD: "As a teacher, I would OF given them..." ??? You must be a teacher of something other than English. I agree with your point about the grade, though.

Philsin08: Kelche is related to other Philadelphia players like Cole Hammels and Ashante Samuel, both of whom I have seen mentioned in recent posts.

How about that offensive line! Those kids were playing their hearts out last night. I'm surprised Ware mustered 4 sacks. My goodness how effective has Mudd's schemes been to bring together 3 new faces, 2 being rookies? Vick had all day and basically dissected the Cowboys defense. Shady was running through truck dock like holes in the Dallas defense. It was beautiful watching Peters, Kelce and Watkins deep down field abusing secondary defenders.

no love for making Jason Witten look like a non-factor? When is the last time we put a hall of famer like that in the corner after taking the rest of the team over our knee? Pass defense should have gotten the A+ for that!
