Paul Domowitch's Eagles-Bears Report Card

POSTED: Tuesday, November 8, 2011, 12:25 AM

Click here to give your grades on the Eagles' Monday night performance against the Bears:

RUSHING OFFENSE: LeSean McCoy rushed for just 33 yards on 9 carries in the first half, but turned it on in the third quarter, scoring on a 33-yard run with the help of some excellent blocking from left tackle Jason Peters. Ronnie Brown had a four-yard touchdown run.

Grade: B

PASSING OFFENSE: Mike Vick threw his third red-zone interception of the season in the second quarter after the Eagles drove to the Chicago 19.  The Bears turned it into a Robbie Gould field goal. Vick averaged just 5.6 yards per attempt and completed just 21 of 38

Grade: C-minus

RUN DEFENSE: The Bears’ ground game gashed the Eagles for 60 yards on their first possession. They did a better job of slowing them down for a while, but Matt Forte finished with 133 rushing

Grade: C-minus

PASS DEFENSE: The Eagles did a decent job on Jay Cutler early on, but he found his stride in the second half, throwing two touchdown passes. The Eagles did a poor job in the middle of the field. Earl Bennett had 5 catches for 95 yards and a TD against them.

Grade: C-

SPECIAL TEAMS: DeSean Jackson had a costly fumble on a first-half punt return that set up a Chicago touchdown. A fake punt in the fourth quarter failed miserably. Eagles coverage units did a pretty good job of containing lethal return man Devin Hester, with the exception of a 19-yard punt return early in the fourth quarter.

Grade: D

OVERALL: Another blown lead. Another game where their run defense let them down. Another game where turnovers killed them. Get the defibrillator.

Grade: D

This team continues to blow. At least we know Castillo's little bit of success the last few weeks was a fluke.

This Eagles team is just way too weak at too many spots on defense to make the playoffs. Our inability to generate pressure on Cutler tonight killed us. Where is the inside push from Cullen Jenkins? Jamar Chaney and Moises Fokou are truly awful.. No one came up big in the secondary tonight. They all had poor games. This season is for intensive purposes... over.

I want this guy as my future teacher. Imagine not giving a complete F to the passing defense!! It was pathetic!!

they can't hold onto leads. they're defense can't stop anyone. They can't win at home.

We couldn't get a finger on Cutler and the Bears hit Vick about 10 times. Nobody could cover Bennett. An awful defensive effort when you have no margin for error.

Talk about a team that value's linebackers and has a defense, the Bears have leaders who battle to make plays. Our defense folds in crunch time.

Bears won the game because they won the match-ups in the trenches. Both Chicago's offensive and defensive lines dominated. Period.

By the end of the game, a beat-up Vick appeared to just want the damn thing to be over.

And sorry, but from this vantage point DeSean Jackson appears to now be stealing paychecks. His over all effort is, at best, inconsistent. More concerned with "protecting" himself. Someone should let him know that it doesn't make for the most compelling argument for a big contract. A contract that appears less and less likely to be forthcoming from the Eagles.

Jackson isn't going anywhere. He will be franchised. He has no leverage.

Absolutely no leadership on Defense - that left with BDawk and Jimmie Johnson (RIP).

The Eagles failed to protect Vick. Bears LBers shut down big gains by McCoy. DL cannot stop the run. The DL applied no pressure on Cutler. The Eagles love those little defensive linemen. They look so cute with grass on their behinds!

This wide 8 defense sucks. Can someone please tell Babin how stupid he
looks in his stance just before he gets crushed by this opponent.
The Bears defense showed Reid why linebackers are important. Turn out the lights the party's over.

My disappointment was with the D'backs. The Birds paid a lot of money for them and they're getting burned. The D'line isn't getting pressure and the LB's don't fill well. It's not a good D unless they get a big lead like against the Cow-girls. On offense, Andy stopped running the ball and stopped throwing to Celek. That's how they won their last 2 games. Also, Macklin has got to stop dropping balls.

I'll throw one bone to the D - Horrible call on Babin. No doubt he was shoved into Cutler - BTW somebody shut Gruden up.

Same old Birds, never know which team will show up. Been like this under Reid the whole tenure. Too tired to care anymore plus sick of it all.
