Osi won't forgive McCoy

POSTED: Saturday, November 19, 2011, 7:21 AM

Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora has not forgotten or forgiven what LeSean McCoy said about him during a Twitter spat in the offseason.

McCoy tweeted that Umenyiora was "soft" and "overrated." Omenyiora countered by saying that the Giants termed McCoy as "Lady Gaga."

“What he did was unforgivable,” Umenyiora said yesterday, according to the New York Daily News. “Do you understand what I mean? Because whenever you see a man in a contract dispute, a fellow NFL player, you don’t take that opportunity to take your shots at him. You wait until you’re about to play him, then you take your shots. . . . This, if he was going to say something, should have been the week he said some things like that.”

Despite also saying, "I’ve moved past it. I just have to focus on winning right now," it is hard to get the impression that he really has.

"He said some things he shouldn’t have said," Umenyiora said. "He made a mistake there. At the end of the day, there’s no extra motivation. I know for a fact that we have to win this game to get to where we need to go. He ran his mouth. He crossed the line that shouldn’t have been crossed. I think this week, if he was going to say something, should have been the week he said some things like that. I’m not really concerned about that. I’ll see him on the football field and we’ll go from there."

The personal spat, however, has not blinded Umenyiora to the type of season that McCoy is having for the Eagles.

"I think, especially if Vick doesn’t play, our main focus will be on trying to shut him down," he said. "He’s having a tremendous season so far. We have to do some things to control him. It’s going to be hard. Nobody has really been able to shut him down completely. We’re going to have our work cut out for us and we’ll see what happens."

Umenyiora said he has not been paying complete attention to what is happening here with the Eagles, but he did throw a word of support for embattled coach Andy Reid.

"One thing I do know about Philly is they’re a very, very well coached football team," he said.  "They’ve had an opportunity to win most of the games this year. They just haven’t been able to finish. Andy Reid’s a great coach. They have a lot of pride on that football team and they’re going to come out and give us a fight, for sure."

Okay Osi....if the Eagles are so well coached then why don't you play for them? Oh...that's right, you are playing for a winning team. Never mind...

...his "logic" is as stupid as all the "unwritten rules" in baseball. Quit yapping Osi. Want to make your point, shut Shady down, sack VY 3-4 times, and THEN yap about it.

You just know there's going to be a Barry Sanders-type juke coming Osi's way this week... I have to admit- their little twitter war was funny.

Well Osi, unfortunately McCoy has to resort to Twitter because he does not get the chances on the field. Reid doesn't like to use one of the best weapons in the NFL.

The only thing able to stop LeSean McCoy this year has been Andy Reid.

Kind of interesting. This article portrays Osi's feelings completely differently than he did himself in an interview on Michael Kay's show on ESPNRadio New York Friday afternoon. He laughed off the whole thing for this point in the season, did say he was just focusing on winning the game, and said it was just a mistake by McCoy, no big deal. But hey, saying whatever fits your audience is what it's all about, right?

Eagles 3 and 7 after game, one step closer to official playoff elimnation...then Andy back next year just because that's how they do it. And it will be the players fault. Not the fault of the coach who picked em.

Giant cry baby. And MRD = why would you say "hurt" someone. This is a game. I'm quite sure you don't want someone say, hurt Eli. So grow-up.
