On Boldin and Peters
Les Bowen, Daily News Staff Writer
Those 12 draft picks the Eagles have stockpiled are attracting much speculation.
ESPN's John Clayton has mentioned in a couple of venues that the Birds could be involved in trades for either Arizona wideout Anquan Boldin or Buffalo Pro Bowl left offensive tackle Jason Peters.
Obviously, it would probably be impossible to pull off both acquisitions. Just as obviously, neither Boldin nor Peters officially is available.
Scuttlebutt holds that the Cards are more likely to part with Boldin than the Bills are with Peters - the Cards are already paying Larry Fitzgerald.
Peters would leave a huge hole in Buffalo's rebuilding scheme, although he seems disgruntled and wants a new contract. The Bills already have released guard Derrick Dockery, who signed with Washington, and tight end Robert Royal, who signed with Cleveland.
MJPD345 and who123 - I am all for a balanced offense - its why I can't stand having Andy Reid as our coach. But let's face it - he will never change. Balance to him is 70/30 pass to run. The 3-headed monster was in Andy's first or second year. Whether or not he has a "stud" RB does not matter (I for one, consider B West a stud, and Buck was a very good compliment to B West). Didn't Andy seem unhappy when we won games by running the ball? Why's that? Because Reid's first inclination will be to pass, then he will pass some more. I wish it wasn't the case - but I have completely lost faith in waiting for Andy to change his ways. dankil13

sammarsh, big ups for actually contributing usefual information. You have done more that thses hacks who write for the daily rags. God forbid they do more than regurjitate whatever real journalists on other web pages say. I think we are on the same page w. Wells. it seems like he gets his by bullying tacklers. this won't happen in the NFL, or if it does, it won't happen for long. You can't keep slamming into 250 + pounders and expect to last 16 games, let alone long enough to justify being drafted in the 1st round. If I had to choose between a stud LT or a stud WR, u ALWAYS go with the LT. That way u help the run and pass game. He can't be any worse at run blocking that the Eagles were. I think we can get by with getting a RB in the later rounds. Unless Pettigrew had a good pro day, he shoudl be available when the eagles pick. IN theory, the Eagles shoudl be able to get both. Peters may hold out AGAIN this year in Buffalo. He held out last year. Did they re-up his contract? Eagles Phan in LI
SkipinWV, here is a useful exercise. Please name the QBs in the league you woudl rather have the #5. Although your knowledge of fictonal comic book characters is impressive, I doubt the same holds true for football. Eagles Phan in LI

dankil13: We were a run team from '99-03, the three headed monster was the '02-03 seasons. Westbrook wasn't even drafted till 2002. It was when we lost Duce Staley and picked up TO the pass every down stuff started. Reid will go back to the run as he gets ready to hand the team over to a new QB so the pressure isn't squarely on the QB. In two or three years we will draft our next franchsie QB depending on who is available, before for that we will draft running backs to carry the load while the QB develops who123
How can you say the Eagles will NEVER trade for Boldin...The cards wanted too much the last time his name came up. If we aren't making a play for someone...(most likely him) then what the heck are we stockpiling picks for? I can assure you, no matter how much you bash the front offce (and I am a Joe Banner hater!) you can't say they are going to use 12 picks wlightning02
To fman727, we had Chad Lewis, who was a pro bowl caliber TE during part of that run He even broke his leg in one of those playoff games 5 or 6 years ago. msf29
Also I dont see the Birds taking Beenie Wells unless he slips to later rounds. He doesnt catch the ball well out of the backfield and wouldnt fit into Andy Reids system. They apparently are showing interest in the RB from Uconn Donald Brown I think his name is. TreeHaus

i dont believe the eagles are happy with their receivers despite them never going out and getting real talent. i think they cross their fingers hoping reggie brown blossoms into a number 1 receiver - which he hasnt. they finally cut greg lewis and lj smith. so i think it would be foolish NOT to believe the eagles are gonna do something to get donovan a receiver. jayfril
italian sausage you gotta stop playing madden dude and watch an NFL game it's not that easy phils116
What difference is a stud receiver if the QB throws the ball at his ankles or 10 feet behind him all game? Go for the lineman, at least then some holes might be opened up for Westy. madsav
