LaRon Landry took to Twitter -- going the long route -- to defend himself further against the allegations by Eagles center Mike McGlynn and for his actions during the pregame skirmish involving DeSean Jackson. He directed his comments to his fans and Redskins fans.
To everyone who's truly redskin fan/fan of mine... Knows I never been a dirty player/never will!!! Supposedly I spit on the center if there's any truth to that I would have been flagged or the guy would have some sort of reaction!!! I just play hard and do anything to help the team win... As for as D. Jack that's my guy been home boys for awhile so to y'all who wanna read blogs/the Internet find out the truth to stories/not a writer trying to stir confusion!!! Tough lost as a hold... Still have a lot of fball left... Hail to the skins!!! Good morning!!!
The NFL will look into allegations by Eagles center Mike McGlynn that the Redskins' LaRon Landry spat at him twice and also the circumstances surrounding the pregame skirmish, a spokesman told the Daily News this morning.
This is standard procedure whenever there are allegation or an on-field incident.
McGlynn said Landry spat at him twice -- once on the extra point that gave the Eagles a 21-0 lead and again with about 4 minutes left in the game.
"He spit in my face, and that really fired us all up," McGlynn said, as detailed by Rich Hofmann in today's Daily News. "We were really looking to put the afterburners on them. It's good to see. We came out and scored 60 points, almost . . . We want to play the game with all the respect in the world. When people come out and disrespect you like that . . . I think there just has to be more respect for the game than that. That's just a terrible thing. We just looked at it as, 'Hey, keep pouring it on them.' "
Landry denied the allegation: "I don't know if they're trying to elevate a problem with no reason. The center, I keep my mouth shut about him."
As for the pregame fracas, multiple reports said that Landry and DeAngelo Hall made references to putting Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson to sleep, a reference to Jackson's recent concussion. Hall denied the allegation to a Washington Post reporter in a text message after the game. Landry said he and Jackson are "tight" and always get into some trash-talking.
Here are a series of reactions to the pregame incident from both sides:
DeSean Jackson: “There were some disrespectful things being said, but I am not going to get into it. Sometimes I think these football players take football too seriously and what he said was disrespectful ... The pregame altercation got it going. We came back in the locker room and were ready to go. We were like pit bulls, ready to get out of the cage. I think it helped out a lot and especially because they came into our house and put a good butt whooping on us. We wanted to come in here and return the favor.”
Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin: "There are certain things that you do and certain things that you say and everyone trash talks, but there are just certain things you say and don’t say. Life changing incidents are things you just don’t talk about and he was just running his mouth a little bit too much. I mean he is supposed to be one of the elite players in the league, but there are certain things that cross the line.”
Eagles receiver Jason Avant on Landry: “Well, he is a dirty player and we know that and its one of things where we want to play our hardest and let our play speak for itself. All that extracurricular stuff is high school and I guess trying to create rivalries.”
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick: "Guys get to talking and going and mouthing off. It’s just a part of the game, no one is going to get into a fist fight, it’s nothing personal its just two teams ready to get out there and that’s what you want, that’s what you want to get in a rivalry.”
Eagles coach Andy Reid: "Two teams on Monday Night Football, they’re fired-up to play each other. These NFC East rivals, it’s awesome – that’s what it’s all about. Better to not have any skirmishes, but the whole game was that way.”
Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb: “I kind of see things but I didn’t know what was going on. I’ve been a part of that situation before on a Monday night. It’s just two teams that their energy levels are high. Someone says something here, you say something back and all of a sudden everyone gets involved. I don’t think that had anything to do with the game.”
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan: "You know I am not really sure what happened. I was over there. Emotions are very high before a game and I am not exactly sure what transpired.”
Eagles running back Jerome Harrison: "You know they said some words and, at the end of the day, you have to play. And that’s what we did.”

- While others are willing to forgive and forget Vick's heinous actions because he can throw and scramble, I am not. He is a loser, plain and simple. Actually, I'm glad to see the success he is having because it is just a matter of time until his ego gets the better of him and he screws up again -- this time in a much bigger way. - Not having been present, I have no way of knowing what he did or did not do. That being said, it's always hilarious when these pro ball players open their mouths (or start typing) and reveal just how unintelligent they are. It is such a joke when they run down what college these guys attended. Landry clearly has a middle school dropout's level of understanding over the English language.
Relying on how McGlynn carries himself as apposed to how Landry presents himself, I would already tend to believe the former over the latter. Moreover, he clearly said something that crossed the line and instigated a scuffle. That background is not helping his cause; however, the league is powerless to take action unless they actually caught the spitting on camera (which seems unlikely).— Kramerica

Landry did the talking with his mouth. The Eagles did the talking with their play. Landry can talk all he wants, as at the end of the day the Eagles flat out embarrassed the Thinskins. By the way, as I understand it, Landry made reference to putting Jackson into a coma this time. Those scores get evened out next season. Go Eagles. Beat the hated New York next week.- Living here in D.C. I can tell you the fan base is ready to push all the Deadskins off a cliff but I'd settle for just Landry and maybe Hall.
