BRANDON GRAHAM

Numbers and more: Second-team All-American as a senior after recording career-high 64 tackles and team-high 10.5 sacks ... Finished his career second in school history with 29.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles and 56 tackles for loss ... First defensive player to be voted team MVP twice in Michigan history. Finalist for the Ted Hendricks Award, given to the nation’s best defensive end.
NATE ALLEN

Hometown: Cape Coral, Fla.
Numbers and more: Played in 48 games, including 39 consecutive starts to end his career. Had 224 tackles and nine interceptions ... As a senior was second-team All-Big East with four interceptions and 85 tackles ... “I definitely feel confident with my cover skills,” he said. “Whatever I’m needed to do, I’ll do it. Whether it’s to come down and cover the slot guy, tight end, I feel confident enough to do it.”

Asked if he patterned himself after any player, he said: “Charles Woodson. He’s pretty much my favorite corner. He plays man, too, and he loves making tackles and can cover.”
KEENAN CLAYTON

CLAY HARBOR

Numbers and more: A three-time All-American, set school record for receptions (150) with yards (1,906) and touchdowns (10). Receiving yardage ranks fourth in school history ... Had 59 catches and 729 yards as a senior ... Caught at least one pass in 33 consecutive games, equaling the school record ... “I can do a lot of different things; I can play fullback, slot, halfback, and I plan on doing that,” he said. “I like to hit people and I’m definitely going to run down the field and make some plays on special teams as well.”
RICKY SAPP

Numbers and more: Started 36 of 50 games, with 142 tackles, 17.5 sacks, 38 tackles for loss and 16 quarterback pressures ... Played primarily out of Clemson’s “bandit” defensive end position. Sapp said he split snaps rushing the passer and dropping back into coverage ... Tore an ACL in November 2008 and played all of last season 60 percent, by his estimate ... “I really should have sat out a couple of games, until I got that right, but I really wanted to play so it kind of hurt me a little bit,” he said. “I guess that’s why I went kind of low, but everything works out for the best, and I know God had a plan all along, so I’m just excited to be in the situation that I’m in.”
RILEY COOPER

Hometown: Clearwater, Fla.
Numbers and more: Played in 51 career games (28 starts), catching 81 passes for 1,496 yards and 18 touchdowns ... Second-team All-SEC as a senior, leading the team in receiving yards (961) and touchdowns (9). He was second in receptions (51) ... Also was drafted twice in the baseball draft - by the Phillies in 15th round in 2006 and the Rangers in the 25th round in 2009, but opted to pursue an NFL career.
CHARLES SCOTT

JAMAR CHANEY

Numbers and more: Two-time second-team All-SEC ... 288 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two interceptions in 49 games (39 starts) ... Led the team with 90 tackles as a senior ... Was a medical redshirt in 2008 because of a leg injury ... “We felt that he could play all three linebacker positions and that he was a smart kid and had a great understanding of [Mississippi State’s] defense there,” Andy Reid said. “We know he’s a good blitzer and feel that he’s a good cover man. He’s able to take on fullbacks and he’s good enough and quick enough to get on and off blocks from offensive lineman.”
JEFF OWENS

Numbers and more: Sporting News’ first-team All-America, first-team All-Big Ten, team captain and MVP in 2009 ... Had 68 tackles, five interceptions and three forced fumbles in 12 games at strong safety ... Had an 89-yard INT return vs. Wisconsin, fourth-longest in school history ... For his career: 49 games (35 starts, with 5 at strong safety and 10 at free safety), 219 tackles, nine interceptions, five forced fumbles and three sacks.

Can Ricky Sapp play the SAM?- they say sapp can be a SAM course they said the same about gocong. didn't like the draft when it happened. finding more about the players they seem dynamic, a lot of 4 year starters, good programs, still sometimes think the eagles are too cute by a half as they take a lot of guys that have fallen because of injuries and think they're getting a steal. that really worked out with cornelius ingram didn't it.— notch44
- Jeff Owens - "team's David Jacobs Award winner for courage, spirit, character and determination" - That's the kind of guy you want in the seventh round. I like Kafka - for only starting one year, he showed some good numbers. They'll find out quick if his decision making (INTs) will get better as he gets scout team reps against this wild Eagles D.— B in DC
- I think we hit with Graham, Lindley, and Harbor. I am not that comfortable about the rest. With all the defensive ends on the roster we took a guy from Hawaii slated to go in the later rounds? There wasn't a center who could have helped? I am also concerned about the lineman, linebackers and secondary all being undersized. In the NFC East with the mammoth offensive lines, it doesn't bode well for the Birds against the run or pass with the tall receivers in the division and small secondary with no physical presence.— blackknight
- Blacknight - I think you would be very surprised by the number of corners in the NFL that are actually over 6 feet tall. They are certainly in the minority. It is more important for corners to have hip fluidity so that they can turn and run with the receivers. Tall corners lack that sometimes. Also, why don't you like the Nate Allen pick. Second best cover safety in the draft with good size. I would agree that the o-line is still suspect, but there didn't appear to be much depth after the first round.— KevDic3
For me the draft is a bust. No Taylor Mays. That in itself is a failure. When we look back on this and see what a world beater this kid is, and we have lil' Nate Allen, we gave up dominance in the D backfield.- Kevdic, good point about the corners. I think Allen will be OK but I would have preferred Mays who can deliver the big hit. Since Dawkins left there is no physical presence at all coming from free safety. I think Mays, while arguably not the best cover guy would be a huge asset against the run and would have make receivers think when crossing the middle or going up high for a ball. I don't think Allen, while a better cover guy, elicits that same fear.— blackknight
- Would not surprise me if Kurt Coleman makes it in the NFL, despite his size. This guy looks like a football player. Eagles' fans are going to love him, on special teams or whatever.— tacklinjoe
