McNabb: Resolve This Quickly
Les Bowen, Daily News Staff Writer
Donovan McNabb said today he still wants to be an Eagle, but he understands the situation and hopes the Eagles provide a quick resolution, one way or the other.
McNabb relayed through a spokesman his response to Eagles coach Andy Reid acknowledging that the team is listening to offers for its franchise QB.
"My position hasn't changed," McNabb said in the statement released to the Daily News and other media. "I've said all alsong that I'd like to win a Super Bowl and finish my career in Philadelphia. I understand the situation well, and just hope, whichever direction the Eagles decide to go in, they do it quickly. I think that would be best for Kevin (Kolb), Michael (Vick), the Eagles and any other teams involved. No matter what happens, I've already begun preparing to have an outstanding season in 2010."
The Eagles are going to suck for a long time Kolb will not be the answer, they probably won't make the playoffs for the next 5 years. This team isn't even close to being good, I sure McNabb is quietly praying to be traded to a contender. This organization is a joke, when they had a oppurtunity to be an elite organization they never made the key move to get over the hump. I hope they draft a Quarterback because Kolb has a candy are. Unless they trade McNabb for 2 offensive lineman, a linebacker and a safety, they'll still be mediocre at best next season. Jackie Marlo
To play devil's advocate re: AR's comments this morning; by AR saying that he is listening to offers, it may have pushed any organizations that were waiting to make offers into the mood to make an offer now as opposed to waiting to make one. So, it may have actually strengthened the E's position. If you can get the 1st pick of the 2nd round (also the 1st pickof second day, which is big), you can expect AR to trade that pick for a king's ransom. The Jets way overpaid last year to get Shonn Greene at the beginning of the 3rd round (the 1st pick of the second day), and I am sure AR will use that as a measuring stick for trading the 1st pick in the 2nd from StL. mortgage_wizard: McNabb has been great, but sometimes you just have to close the book on one situation and move on to the next. The way this team is moving in the offseason makes me think that they are focused on a minor rebuilding stage. How many chances should McNabb get???? He's gotten this team to a doorstep numerous times and they've failed to get over the hump. McNabb wasn't the one to blame ALL of the time, but when the games mattered the most and it came down to him making a big play in January, he came up small. Great regular season QB, mediocre playoff QB. And just how long should Kolb sit, waiting in the wings for his chance to play. McNabb has had his chances, time to move on and get some fresh legs under center. Omorales510
I am not yet convinced that Mc5 will be gone by the start of the season. But if that rumor about a 2nd round pick is right....Andy would be daft not to go for it. Hmmmmm....Andy......daft...hmmmm. TBear

Ist pick of the 2nd round sounds like a win win for both teams. Pull the trigger fast Andy and make sure you turn that pick into multiple picks with another partner on draft day. spumoni
Eagles fans were calling for Bobby Hoying too. From all reports, Kolb is talented but he has no experience. Realistically, he'd leave the Eagles 3 years from being a contender for the Super Bowl. Who knows what the team will look like then. Kolb might be ready but what will the offensive and defensive lines look like? They'll be a bunch of over 30 yo guys...if they're still healthy and playing. And if Kolb isn't ask good as he looked in practice, we'd be a decade away from contending. I'll go with McNabb. It's great to have a talented player who wants to be in Philly. After the way the Eagles are handling this, don't be surprised if the Eagles don't make a trade and that all three QB walk after next year. MikeP

I agree with be careful what you wish for.....I understand the QB is the first to take fault...and McNabb has had his faults but what about the faults of the defense? You cant give up 30-40+ points and think your team is gonna win every game. Love Andy but the finger should go his way too. As for Kevin Kolb, maybe it is his time but do we want to take the risk from just seeing him play against the Chiefs and losing to the Saints. If McNabb is gone, unless we win a Super Bowl, no one else will be better. Without McNabb in the last ten yrs, we would not of accomplished what we have and would not have the Players we do. It should be interesting to see what happens, and if good ol' #5 does leave the city of Brotherly Love, you will be missed!! ephilly34
hey mortgage_wizard, that works both ways. By almost all stats, McNabb is a mediocre quarterback. Not good, not bad, but mediocre. McNabb has had some good teams around him and he's done what mediocre quarterbacks do when they are on good teams: he's won more than he's lost. So, if Kolb is mediocre too expect the same results. If he's good, expect better results. If he's bad, you bring in someone else. It's really not that hard to replace mediocre. bc3030
If you get ride of McNabb, get ride of Reid and Banner too!!! This organization is mediocre at best. Cheap and insensitive to all the loyal fans that love their beloved Eagles. Reid and Banner do not have a clue on how to win the big one. They like to roll the dice and hope for the best. As you can see, this doesn't work. You have to be BOLD and HAVE the right personnel to do the job! So, if McNabb goes; I say Reid and Banner also!!!! Iggles_Fan
