Shouldergate really isn't an insidious coverup of some serious Donovan McNabb injury, Andy Reid told your Andy Reid does not plan to resign and depart NovaCare in a helicopterEagletarian today, at the end of an interview focused on a future project.

Reid said he shut down McNabb for the final day of last month's first minicamp just to be super-cautious, that McNabb was experiencing only "a little tightness," and no pain. Reid said he thought everything would be fine, but when McNabb experienced soreness at the camp that started last week, he got the QB checked out.

Reid said MRI results were negative for a problem, which was why Reid emphasized that no surgery was in the offing when he spoke briefly with reporters on Tuesday, announcing McNabb wouldn't throw again this week because of "slight tendinitis."

To update, after watching yesterday's workout, McNabb again declined to talk to reporters about his shoulder, except to declare, "I'm good, I'm great."

Meanwhile, Randy Moss had better watch out. There seems to be an Eagles curse, afflicting guys who come close to signing free agent deals here, then go elsewhere. You might have noticed that LeCharles Bentley hasn't played for two seasons after tearing up a knee, the summer following Bentley's bait-and-switch with the Birds. The Eagles were ready to announce they had signed the Pro Bowl center, but he used their offer to get a better deal from his hometown Browns.

Now, there's Ryan Fowler. In last year's offfseason, ex-Cowboys linebacker Fowler agreed to terms with the Eagles, but a mixup between his agent and the Titans' front office resulted in the Titans not getting back to the agent until after the Birds had announced they were signing him. Turned out the Titans were offering more money. Oops. The Eagles graciously refrained from criticizing anybody, as Fowler excused himself and headed for Tennessee.

Well, this week comes the news that David Jacobs, the convicted steroids dealer who died last week, alleged he provided Fowler with steroids before and after the 2006 season -- which would have been right around the time Fowler was dallying with becoming an Eagle. Fowler's attorney denies the allegation.

Also, something I meant to get to earlier in the week: Peter King faults Asante Samuel, not Rodney Harrison, for David Tyree's miracle catch in the Super Bowl.

To all the Ocho Cinco talkers and Roy Williams seekers I wish there was a way...but it isn't happening. On the other hand, to all you Lurie/Reid apologists, for the love of God, I hope you are right! I just don't see R. Brown, Curtis and Jackson scaring defenses like NY, Dallas and the AFC Central. Sorry, I love the Birds and represent more than you know in Montana but from afar it's easy to look inside and see the cool looking model car in the box but the company forgot to include two major parts!

stupid peter king, faulting samuel. i did watch the play, from 3 angles, several times. no way asante had a chance to make a play on the ball or the player. "had he gone in like a torpedo" as king puts it is completely wrong. if he did that he would have been going into his teammate, rodney harrison, not david tyree. i dont think, jogging or sprinting, samuel would have even been there in time.

If all you people with your damaged psyches from following philly sports teams could just relax for a minute and stop with the get rid of McNabb bs, you might be able to enjoy one of the finest decades in Eagles history. Yeah it sucks they have not won the big one and yes McNabb has been injury prone, but do you really believe Kolb is the 2nd coming? If you want to throw the blame around, start upstairs with Lurie and work your way down.

that captain awesome guy is right on. houston qb's stink. kolb had one good year his senior season. but against who? who did he play? UTEP? mcnabb will be fine. and stop with the chad johnson talk. next person to mention larry fitzgerald, roy williams, or chad johnson should lose commenting capabilities... that includes you, les.

Hell hath no fury like Peter King scorned. You leave the Patriots, you're dead to him. You hear me Asante? D - E - A - D.

McNabb is the victim here....Reid is the problem. How can you have a talented QB for 9 years and give him a #1 receiver for 1 year; the year they got to the Super Bowl. Reid doesn't value top receivers and that's what you need, play makers, to get to the Super Bowl. Reid is a dope, and Eagles fans are trapped. Andy Reid can't win with this philosophy..Period....

Every time I hear you chumps talk about Donny Nabb is finished it just makes me want to poke a pencil in your foreheads. We have almost all the pieces right now, minus receivers and that can come shortly. Travis Henry, the kid from Detroit, whoever. But now is not the time and put Kolb in the starting rotation. I'm from Philly but moved due to all the whining. Now Im in Charger country although nothing can replace my Birds, I still see them as one of the top franchises, with one of the best coaches with one of the best QB's, in the league. Now go back to to work, tell your wife and kids you love them, tell the girlfriend on the side not to call past 5pm and everything will be ok.

Should we blame Bonnie or Clyde for this injury? :-)

Kevin Kolb? Really? You want to hand the keys over to a guy who went to a school which helped produce two of the biggest QB let-downs (Andre Ware and David Klingler) in known history. The same Kevin Kolb who looked like the worst JV QB in history during this past year's Lions game (see Kolb getting sacked and turning the ball over abotu 3 plays in). Kolb is going to be a horrible experiment. Think of a younger Doug Pederson...so get ready for the 2015 draft people! If Kevin Kolb's athleticism has any say, we'll be picking at the always coveted #1 spot! Man some of you morons...are well, morons.

I agree with the Chunky Soup comment. McNabb needs to get on a treadmill, stop eating that nasty soup, and become more lean. His "aw I'm so cute I got baby fat" look is not good.

McNabb is going to be in the Pro Bowl this year, and Kolb is going to be carrying a clipboard for the next four years. With DJack, Westbrook, Booker, and Curtis, the Eagles have speed to burn, and will create mismatches all over the field. LJ Smith is going to lose his job to Kris Wilson, and Desean Jackson will win Rookie of the Year. Jason- Los Angeles

You are right KG071 the Phillies are the only thing to talk about right now...(and they are on fire might I add)....However this McNabb issue needs to just blow over. Are we still talking about getting rid of McNabb? He is NOT the issue. Outside of Brady and Peyton Manning, who is a complete quarterback? Big Ben is decent, Romo's colors will show, Rivers is only "good" because LT carries that team, Donovan is a pure quarterback. I feel that a lot of Philly fans are over looking that defence wins titles! We need to talk about how to keep Brown, Samuel, and Sheppard happy...not McNabb's small injury...

McNabb needs to have something amputated if he really wants to round out that injury history list....

Who are we to judge the Big Red machine? Lurie, Banner, Reid = Gold Standard - just sit back and enjoy the ride, they know better than you

This is a non-issue people so calm down. So he has some tedonitis in his shoulder, so what? Last time I checked, it's June. Camp starts at the end of July. Stop making the proverbial "Mountains out of Mole Hills." I know that there really isn't as much to talk about in the Sports World except the Phillies but please, lighten up. This is not important and in the end, Donovan will be just fine. Let it go...he's not going anywhere and neither is Coach Reid. And they shouldn't either.

Time for McNabb to cowboy up...it's not like he's a MLB pitcher throwing 100+ 90 mph fastballs. Philly.com needs to find some other drama to cover. What's Reids boys been up to? We havent heard about those rascals in a while.

You claim to be Eagles fans but you hate your QB and coach? You're really saying you'd rather go with an unproven guy this year than a 5 time pro-bowler with team passing records? Bama - congrats on being a pessimistic psychic- that's what every kid wants to grow up to be.

On the Samuel comment - Peter King is ridiculous. Asante was nowhere near close enough to hit Tyree and dislodge the ball as King suggests. I've watched it over and over again and Samuel was a good 10 yards away when Tyree caught the ball. Don't know why King has a problem with Asante. Probably didn't want to answer questions about King's daughter's high school softball team and Super Bowl media day.

every year I say the same thing: McNabb is too heavy...he needs to lose weight...carrying those extra lbs can only hurt his playing ability and mobility. stop eating that lousy chunky soup

It's time to move beyond McNabb. He's past his prime. The only reason he's still around is because he and Reid have slumber parties together.

McNabb is the best thing that happened to this franchise in a long, long time. Thomson is probably mad because his Bobby Hoying jersey is collecting dust in the closet.

Still don't believe Andy! This story will continue to evolve and we will find out the truth in July. Guarantee you McNabb will not be fine and dandy by training camp.
