Marty: Vick could be 'one of the greatest of all time'

The Ed Block Courage Award banquet last night did not have the drama of a year ago when Michael Vick was the choice by his Eagles teammates.
That does not mean that Vick was not a subject of conversation, especially with Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg being named the assistant coach of the year, largely for his work with Vick.
"We're all excited," Mornhinweg told National Football Post. "He's had a year under his belt in our system to bank on. I really think he's so talented that if he does it the right way he could end up being one of the greatest of all time. He's got another step to take to do that."
"I've been impressed with a lot of things with Mike. That mentality he has right now is whatever it takes to win the next game and it doesn't matter how it gets done. And the leadership qualities he has, I've been very impressed with as well."
Mornhinweg also lauded Vick for having the "right frame of mind."
"All he cares about is winning the next game," the coordinator said.

After heading to Atlantic City to pick up the player of the year award from the Maxwell Club on Friday, Michael Vick headed to Kansas City to receive the NFC Offensive Player of the Year award at the 101 Football Awards Banquet. Vick's presenter was his mentor Tony Dungy.
"It was quite a thrill and somewhat ironic because we first got together two years ago at Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary, just outside of Kansas City," Dungy wrote on his blog. "I couldn’t help but reflect on how things had changed for Mike in two years. He has gotten back to being a great player on the field, but more than that, he’s doing a great job with his family and also doing many hours of community service, talking to young people about making good decisions, and trying to help them avoid some of the mistakes he made. I have really been proud of Michael and how he has grown in the last two years."

Hey Marty, think of how good and effective he could be if you ran the ball 45% of the time. vaphillyfan1
Vick: Marty could be "one of the worst coordinators of all time" Joe Lis lives- Such a great hearted human being, when does he pick up his Nobel Peace Prize for not killing dogs while being watched and handled? COskier
damm those dogs, how about that charmaine
charmaine: you are a fake human
The thug's greated award is yet to come.
bucky95- Bucky you are the one that is not human, and your award from the kkk will be coming soon. Your ignorant racist comments are not going to stop Vick from playing or getting paid and it wont get you out of your trailer park

You know, we deserve this team. They fold every year and look like hapless bums in the important games like 24 to 0 in Dallas last year with McChoke and this year 26 to 14 to the awful Vikinghs when they could have locked up the second seed and kept Green Bay out of the plays, then losing to Green Bay with the new McChoke and they are getting awards all over the place. For what? I mean I like rooting for the home team but the last quarter of the season they were a wrose team than they were in the first part which shows what kind of team they will be in 2011. They don't have to win anything. Philly fans are used to this kind of ending. Okay Marty, I can see it all now, McNabb and Vick, (your QBs)together being the greatest of all time, without ever actually winning anything except some meanless awards, which Joe Banner thinks is a more successful season than Pittsburgh. Enjoy it Philly fans. This is your team. marioP
Comment removed.- marioP -- every team but the packers choked last year captian obvious. we still have a very decent chance to be a really good team the next few years. but i see you just want to hate. vick is our best option to win. either be a fan of the eagles or beat it. simple. nobody is forcing you to watch.
- COKskidder and the rest of the haters can't wait for a 'Vick article' to come out so that they can jump in and sound off with nonsensical comments. No matter what you say or how you feel, Mike Vick will continue to be awesome and the Eagles QB! If you haven't gotten used to it by now, TOO BAD! Go cry in the Schuylkill. You will get a better return from that! GO MIKE VICK GO!
Panthro, Tom Brady, Ben Rothesiberger, Aaron Rodgers, Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw. They are awesome QBs! Know why, because they can run an offense and complete a pass of over 7 yards. Dante Culpepper, Akili Smith, Vince Young, Michael Vick "the QB draw" type QB may be exciting but they don't win anything, period! That is point of every season, winning the Super Bowl! paris4053- Typical racism enough said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vick has 2 career playoff wins in 5 starts.
excuse me if I am less than bowled over with his "all time great" credentials.
sure he has "potential". but it seems odd talking about how much "upside" a player has when he is headed for his 9th professional season.
ekw555- Excuse me what does Kolb have, I am glad Mike does not listen to these loser mentality people he is watching tapes and film. He also said he watch a lot of Aaron Rodgers tapes last year. This guy is money and the complainers who could not throw a football to a toddler need to shut up
Blessed8251 - Well, Kolb does have 1 win over a team with more than no wins...in 4 years. That's something...not much, but something.
