Maclin: 'Should Be All Right'

POSTED: Tuesday, August 3, 2010, 4:11 PM

Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin was carted off the field this afternoon, adding to a long line of injured Eagles players.

Maclin limped into the building to be examined. The team said he had a hyperextended left knee and was still being evaluated. The Eagles said a further update would be available tomorrow.

Later, Maclin left the fieldhouse saying he felt relieved.

"Hyperextended my knee a little bit," he said. "Should be all right, though."

Asked for a timetable, he said: "We'll see. Should be all right, though."

"It is (a relief)," he said, when prompted. "Nobody wants to experience anything that's season-ending or anything like that"

"I just kinda got stuck in the ground, man, my leg just kinda buckled on me a little bit."

Maclin had spoken to reporters about being sore after morning session.

The team cut short its practice following the injury.

It's football. People get hurt. Don't get your panties in a bind. Players get dinged up at every single camp of every single NFL team.

Doesn't sound that serious, so what's the big deal. Muscle pull, strains, etc are not that big of deal. When they start losing guys due to ACL's and broken bones then we can panic. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these vets are hamming it up so they don't have to kill themselves in the heat. Training camp is an archaic NFL rite of passage that is completely unnecessary. Time for the league to smarten up.....

It's football, people get hurt every day that it is played. Todays millionaire players just don't have the same level of pride and toughness as in years past. Probably not even a bad thing as old timers probably shortened their already short careers by playing with severe injury. Today they are all about protecting the "investment" - themselves so they can maximize earnings over their career, money squeezes out alot of the "love of the game" approach that used to prevail - it's just a business now, like any other. Reid approaches camp the right way, lets see how tough these kids are.

They better figure this out. This is training camp, way too many injuries after a few days. Something ain't right. May be time for AR to back off a bit and take his chances in real games.

They were doing non-contact drills today people, just like the majority of the other injuries in camp so far. These guys are just ironing out their lazy winters...

This is why we need Obam's plan of national healthcare. When players get to the NFL, they have been subjected to 20+ years fo George Bush healthcare and are nowhere as healthy as they would have been had we had national care for their lifetimes. Everytime I see an Eagles players injured, I can't help but think of how George W. Bush ruined this country's healthcare system to make his cronies on Wall Street rich.
