Maclin Says He's Good to Go

POSTED: Thursday, December 24, 2009, 1:45 PM

Eagles rookie wideout Jeremy Maclin said he thinks he can run and cut as well as he ever did, as Maclin recovers from a plantar fascia tear that kept him out of last Sunday's win over San Francisco.

Maclin, absent since early in the Giants game the week before, said today he assumes he will resume his starting role thisJeremy Maclin Sunday against the Broncos. The injury started out as plantar faciitis and developed into a tear, but Maclin said he  doesn't worry about making it worse.

"It's already torn now. It is what it is," Maclin said. "Each person's different, depending on how they respond to it. It's not bad at all; obviously, there's something there, but if you can deal with it, you can deal with it."

Maclin said he's spending a lot of time in the training room, stretching his foot.

In other Christmas Eve Eagles news, defensive coordinator Sean McDermott discussed the way he continues to shuffle pieces, 14 games into the season.

"You do want to have continuity and consistency, however, the best 11 are going to play," said McDermott, who last week benched strongside linebacker Chris Gocong in favor of rookie Moise Fokou. "I'm not into allowing guys to just sit here and rest on their laurels, so to speak. I want the best 11 playing in every situation on every down, and competiton is a good thing."

Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said Brian Westbrook "was motoring" in practice Wednesday. Westbrook also is scheduled to return this week, from his second concussion.

Best Holiday wishes from Eagletarian Central.

Might be smarter for Maclin to sit this one out. Just because you can run, doesn't mean the body will handle it well.

GW - its not that you mentioned Christmas its that you act as if its the only holiday going on right now. Its not so please remember we have Jewish sports fans out there too. I don't think Les is doing to be PC but to use shorthand and wish everyone a happy holiday whether it be X-mas, Chanukah, or the winter solstice that one celebrates. Since I personally celebrate Christmas I would like to ask Santa for one gift. A brain for PhillyDKidder. Really man lighten up. Go post that garbage on Rush Limbaugh's page. You probably have to pay per post over there so you spew your garbage for free on a Sports page.

It doesn't take courage to man up and face the music and "do your time". That's a joke. He only stepped up after lying to the police, the NFL commissioner, the owner of the Falcons, and everyone else that would listen. I am for giving people 2nd chances, but please, I have more respect for Winston Justice than I do Mike Vick. Courage in football is more about playing hurt like McNabb did( remember the broken ribs in the first game this year? ), or fighting to make the team without being drafted, i.e Nick Cole / Akeem Jordan. How about Jason Avant? Leading by example as a strong Christian in a league full of ignorant thugs like Mike Vick. Vick display's more courage than Jason Avant? I think not...

"happy holidays" seems appropriate during haunukah AND the Christmas season, but now that haunukahis over, "merry Christmas" seems perfectly acceptable. -with a K

Les is only staying polically correct. He knows this is a Christian holiday as well as anyone. Merry Christmas Les. And Zen Eagle, religious holidays did not "spring up" from the winter solstice, a satanic holiday. Instead of acting like a history major, stick to watching cartoons and playing your video games...and waiting for your mom to make your bed.

"Losers". "Intolerant right wing crazies". Wow, angry name-calling simply because I mentioned the word Christmas. Wonder what I'd have been called if I'd NOT wished Les & his family all the best... And thanks Zen Eagle, I did know that the winter solstice was there first. I don't believe that Jesus was born on Dec 25th any more than I believe Lincoln or MLK were born on a Monday so as to facilitate 3-day weekends for office workers across the country, yet I can certainly celebrate their accomplishments nonetheless.

it takes courage to be nice and help animals? huh? the award to vick wasn't for his work with animals, which took place more than 3 years ago, it was for his work in the community THIS YEAR in helping to fight dog fighting and for getting through the negativity that has surrounded him (inflamed by the media). and if you didn't bother to scrutinize winners of this award before, don't start now!

Glad to see Maclin will be back - Dawkin's won't know if he should cover Jackson, Maclin, Curtis, the TE or RB...will they run, pass or do a reverse...ah - lots of weapons! Oh - Zen...you are 100% on target about the pagans...the Pilgram's came here to get away from Christmas and Easter. Take away the retail ($$$) side of it and most people would be lost....it wasn't even a national holiday until 1870

Was in K-Mart yesterday, and after checking out heard the familiar "Happy Holidays" from the cashier. I turned to her , smiled and said, gently, "Merry Christmas". She looked startled, looked both ways, and whispered to me "We're not allowed to say that, but...same to you sir, and thank you". And by then there were tears forming in her eyes as she turned to the next customer. What is this country coming to???

You losers are really going to make a big deal about the fact that he said holiday instead of christmas. Stop being mad that not everyone is religious. We really don't need to turn Les Bowen's holiday wishes into a political rant.

Actually GW, the holiday is historically the pagan Winter Solstice and all of the other religious holidays sprang up from that. The Roman Catholic Church wanted to draft some Pagans so there was a merger, so to speak. No one really knows, historically, when Jesus was born. So don't be a GIT!!!

The "holiday" is Christmas, my friend. Merry Christmas & the best to you & yours, Les. BTW, Eagles win 31-17 to get to 11-4, inching closer to the #2 seed even as the wheels continue to come off in Minnesota...
