DJax OK with DMac, Can't Know Future

POSTED: Wednesday, February 3, 2010, 12:15 PM

Your sun-parched Eagletarian weathered the elements and caught up with DeSean Jackson this morning as DJax exited an appearance on ESPN2's "First Take," shot at a Miami Beach studio. The Eagles' ultimate weapon was heading out for his first jet ski venture. He promised not to injure himself or wind up in Cuba.

Jackson confirmed what had seemed to be the gist of his comments about quarterback Donovan McNabb, during last week's runup to the Pro Bowl, and since -- Jackson said he supports McNabb, has no problem with McNabb, but doesn't know what the team is going do. He also likes and supports Kevin Kolb, if that is how the front office decides to go.

"If he's there, great," Jackson said. "If he's not, we still have to go to the table."

Earlier, on "First Take," Jackson was asked about McNabb and said: "As of right now, I feel he'll be a Philadelphia Eagle. There's been a lot going on since the end of the season. (The speculation is) really way past what I can really tell you. He's had a great career with us so far, and he's done some great things."

He said their relationship has been excellent so far.

"We'll see how everything turns out," Jackson said. "I wish him the best."

Asked about the intense McNabb speculation, Jackson said: "I know a lot of people are saying he might be gone and he should be gone, but that's really past what I can call and what I can vouch for. As of right now, he's still our quarterback, and that's what we're going with."

Of course, there are eleventy-three different ways to dice up and parse parts of that, a process that probably has already started as you read this.

Jackson also spoke about scoring two touchdowns in the Pro Bowl, on what would have been the birthday of his father, Bill, who died last May 14 of pancreatic cancer.

"In my eyes, it couldn't really get no better than that," he said. "Everything I go out on the field I dedicate everything to him, and to my mother, also, as well, for being a strong woman and taking care of me. It was a blessing to be able to go out there and put on a show for my dad."

Those seem like luke warm endorsements of McNabb to me. The best word to describe DJax's attitude toward McNabb would be indifference.

"I wish him the best." That's funny. DJax is talking like McNabb is already gone.

I agree that those comments are lukewarm, soulman386. Even further, to "wish him the best" seems like a nice way of saying goodbye!

DJax needs to be coy, and that's what he did for once.

You critics are crazy. Everyone is trying to create something that does not exist. If this city truly wanted aSuper bowl win then it would stop trying to bait controversy at every corner

Can someone at One Novacare complex work with this kid to make him sound less stinking ignorant? He sounds like a third grade dropout.

Reddgie, DJax (or D Jacc, I guess) just talks the hip hop lingo. Harping on his dialect makes you sound like there are issues at play. Let the man be…anyways, “eleventy-three different ways”? That’s a new one to me. I like it. I’m gonna have to make that expression part of my lingo.

Wolf, I should not give your posts the time and light of day, but this statement is even ludicrous and offensive by your own hideously low standards: "DM neion deion and cris carter DMs pr team are a joke, they are BETs version of the three stooges."

Reddgie, I couldn't agree with you more. What makes it worse is that he spent a few years at Cal-Berkley. I'm not too sure he spent much time in the classroom. However, as long as he keeps playing the way he does, I'm not sure I really care. As for the fact that he is just speaking the hip hop lingo, I don't know about anyone else, but I'd be fired pretty quickly if I used that lingo in my job.

Clarification, I love what One Yard can do for the Eagles on the field. I would love to make the money he does. Neither one of those points have anything at all to do with my previous post. The "hip hop" lingo in EVERY quote is a disgrace to all well educated Americans, let alone well educated African Americans. Hip Hop it up with your boys all day long, but when you are being put on the record, that is the time to display some class, professionalism and personal pride and you do that by speaking proper English. I could only imagine how many more haters 5 would have if he spoke like that, but One Yard gets away with it. Why?

Reality Speaks; 1st - It's not D-Jax or any derivative thereof, his nickname is One Yard. 2nd - The issue with the "hip-hopping" (which by the way, to attribute how One Yard chooses to speak to hip hop is a travesty to hip hop. The true hip hop stars, both today and from yesteryear, display a level of lyricism and word play that most poets/authors/song writers would sell their soul to poseess) is that I voluntarily choose to speak like One Yard when I am with my friends and other like-minded people, but I also speak in a manner that is both befitting and indicative of the education level I was provided and achieved AND the responsibility that was bestowed upon me by representing my Employer in the most positive light possible when I agreed to become an employee of that company, when the situation dictated as such. He chooses to speak as such because he is a young, professional athlete with immense talents and potential that will be employed regardless of how he represents himself, because of the industry that he works in, that is partly a result of gifts that God provided him with and that he did not earn. But he doesn't have to speak like an illiterate third grader, he takes the easy road and chooses to. He could easily take the harder road and choose to represent himself in a professional manner, i.e. Dawkins, who did so and is only the most beloved Eagle since Reggie White who also represented himself with the utmost class while representing the Eagles, or any other of the thousands of professional, young athlete role models in every sport have voluntarily chosen to do so. Does that resolve your "issue"?

Not to beat a dead horse, but…does hip hop lingo equate to a lack of intelligence? If it does, then that’s news to me. Should we harp on Charlie Manual’s Southern draw? Many a people equate a Southern draw with stupidity, which in itself is ignorance…DJax is a football player, not a public speaker or a politician. I think it’s safe to say most educated people of all races would not be insulted by the way he answers questions from the media.

Reddgie; 1st - He may be One Yard? to you and you alone, but everybody else and their mother calls DeSean Jackson, DJax, (or a derivative of stated nickname). 2nd - Dude, if you’re gonna jump on your high horse and dissect someone else’s grammar, you should check yourself first. “posees?” 3rd - If you actually ask Jackson’s Employer how he represents himself and them, then you would realize this “representation” argument you present holds no weight. DeSean’s new contract will show what his Employer thinks of him. And finally, re-read the blog. Where is this talking like “an illiterate third grade” take place? I thought his quotes were pretty much matter of fact and easily understandable…sorry, I’m not the one with the “issue” that needs resolving bro.

I have no doubt that DeSean wants Kolb in there as his quarterback next season. Not only because he has a brighter future, but for selfish reasons. He wants to be THE star on the offense, and that wont happen until Donovan skips time. I'd be shocked if the birds front office trusted him with any insider info that we can hold any stock in, so any of his comments should be taken with a grain of salt anyway. I love D-Jack, but Andy needs to keep this young mans ego in check, or before you know it we will be dealing with the second coming of T.O. Things should also get interesting when Maclin and even Ingrim begin to get more integrated into the offense as well.

Is there anything dumber than reporters continually asking his teammates about McNabb's future in Philly? What do they expect those guys to say...."We'll be thrilled if he's not back here." They can't say what they really think, so why keep asking?

Djax is no dummy. Kolb is going to be the QB. He also knows that Mcnabb blew many passes due to innaccuracy in passing, and that whenever Djax makes a mistake Mcnabb is the first to point it out.

let's all face it - McNabb has been great for many years - but do we have a Super Bowl ring yet? No. What do you do to make that happen? Make changes - that starts with the leaders on the team. If McNabb is still the QB we will just get more of what we are getting now but slower and older then before - not the direction to an NFL championship - maybe Kolb, Vick and NcNabb all have to go - I don't think any of them are what we are looking for to win the big one. Rothlesberger has done it and he is not what I consider a great QB - there are others, and No 5 is not among that bunch
