Jaguars reportedly get Kampman

POSTED: Sunday, March 7, 2010, 7:47 AM

Free agent defensive end Aaron Kampman agreed to terms with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the early morning hours, according to the Florida Times Union. Terms of the contract were not available.

So, you can cross another defensive end off the Eagles' board.

Just what level of interest the Eagles had and did his agent cancel a visit to Philadelphia or not don't matter now.

Perhaps, general manager Howie Roseman was trying to lower expectations for the Eagles to make a splash at the outset of free agency with this before the combine: "I think it’s going to be a great offseason. I would caution, it’s a marathon not a sprint … The opening day roster is the end of our offseason. We are going to grind and try to find aggressive ways to improve the team.”

The market for second-tier type players began to move Saturday, so perhaps something is coming, although the Eagles have not announced any pending free-agent visits.

OMG why don't the city just get rid of the Sixers and Eagles. Let the Eagles no longer exist and replace them with the Passion. Because the Passion does a better job than we do. And the Sixer? do what you want or just buy a Woman's basketball team . And keep the Phillies. Hell Sixers Eagles and Flyers suck. Well Flyers ar KINDA good. But I say Replace Da Eagles with Da PAssion.

"Do you think reid and company don't want to win it all? " Want has nothing to do with it. The problem is that they don't know how! I am sure they tried their best to fix the offensive line when they brought in the Andrews Sisters and their pal at LT. The problem is that none of the 3 of them put up a Pro Bowl caliber year (don't let Peters fool you). They tried to improve the secondary the past couple of years by adding Samuel, who can't tackle, and going with youth at safety - Macho who can't play! Yes, they are trying. Yes, they are failing.

AR is waiting for garbage time. We're there as far as DEs go. I'm sure AR will convince us that no upgrades are necessary - we'll win our 8-9 and go out in the first round of the playoffs and Lurie will make $100 million. That's exactly the plan.

the TAROT says...a quarterback will be traded on Draft Day for a handful of draft picks...a great quarterback...a small handful of draft picks.

Organizaton really suck. There isn't much I can say about our in ability to to improve our weakness. Were I the only one, that saw the how the Cowboys straight embarrased us two weeks straight? There better be something I'm totally unaware of taking place in the back....

By the way, besides Peppers, the DE free agent crop wasn't bountiful. Kampman had 3.5 sacks. Vanden Bosch had 3. Julius Peppers was looking for a monster contract, and only Chicago was willing to go that high. (Note: No other team was even in the running.) The defense was awful at the end of last season, but you can't expect: 1. To outbid everyone on day one just because you can; 2. Pay loads of money for a position that historically isn't worth its value (safety) or one where your philosophy doesn't have high value on it (linebacker). Also, yes, Bradley is still coming off an ACL, and it would have been nice to keep Witherspoon.. but Witherspoon had his chance at middle linebacker. He couldn't keep the job. Where is the real loss?

Losing Kampman is no loss at all. Good luck to him and the Jaguars.

I love it how people say the eagles won't pry open their wallet yet they just maid Weaver the highest paid fullback in NFL history and last year made peters the highest paid tacklei n the league. Just the facts Ma'am.

The Eagles should go after the Rams free saftey O.J. Atogwe. He has 15 interceptions in last 3 years and he is a restricted free agent that would require no compensation draft picks in return if a team were to make an offer for him and the Rams not match it. I don't think Macho Harris or Quinten Demps is going to cut it next year.

Why pay top tier money to second tier players? There really is no one of interest left, except the occasional back, receiver, or corner. I don't see Mike Bell as a fit here, I would take Ben Tate. I don't like Ogunleye or Kampman, so I'll take Graham, Marlin Jackson might be the only fit
