Eagles lose; Kolb, Bradley out with concussions;

POSTED: Sunday, September 12, 2010, 2:55 PM

Updating, well, this was not where this game appeared to be going.

The Eagles moved the ball, but Michael Vick was stopped on a fourth-and-1 on the first play after the 2-minute warning.

The Birds have no timeouts, after using their last timeout with about 5 minutes remaining.

The Packers were able to run out the clock and finish off a 27-20 victory.

The Eagles fall to 0-1 and are heading to Detroit, which likely will be without quarterback Matthew Stafford, who injured his shoulder in a controversial loss to Chicago.

Updating, David Akers makes a 23-yard field goal with a little under 6 minutes remaining on a drive that began with Nate Allen's first career interception. That cuts the Eagles' deficit to 27-20.

The key play on the drive was a long screen and run by Shady McCoy, reminiscent of Brian Westbrook.

Updating, Michael Vick rallied the Eagles' offense as he threw a 17-yard touchdown to Jeremy Maclin to cut the score to 27-17 with a little more than 10 minutes to go.

Vick was 6-for-8 on the drive.

Updating, the Packers answered quickly and now lead 27-10 on a 32-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers to Greg Jennings, who made it look easy getting around Ellis Hobbs.

Updating, the Eagles have cut the deficit to 20-10 on a 12-yard TD run by Shady McCoy, although Green Bay followed with a 51-yard kickoff return.

The Eagles had a touchdown negated on a Clay Harbor penalty. The drive was highlighted by a 31-yard run by Michael Vick.

And, Jason Peters has gone down and is sidelined. The Eagles get even thinner on the offensive line.

Updating: Both Kevin Kolb and Stewart Bradley are out and will not return. The Eagles say both players have concussions.

Michael Vick, who was on the play for six plays in the first half at quarterback, will take the reins from here. The Eagles fumbled on their first possession of the first half. Green Bay moved down the field and scored on a John Kuhn touchdown to take a 20-3 lead.

Kolb's injury was initially diagnosed as a jaw problem after Clay Matthews fell on top of him. He returned to the game after the injury. He was 5-for-10 for 24 yards and was sacked twice.

Bradley's head bent back when he collided with Ernie Sims' hip. Bradley attempted to get up and then toppled over. He eventually returned to the game before being ruled out.

Updating, The Packers are up 13-3 on a 56-yard Mason Crosby field goal at the halftime gun. They took the lead on their previous drive, a 6-yard TD pass to Donald Driver with 1:48 left in the first half. Jamaal Jackson has left ther game with an elbow injury and will not return, the Eagles say. Leonard Weaver's left knee bent the wrong way on a tackle by Nick Barnett. Weaver has gone to the locker room with a knee sprain, the Eagles said. The Eagles won a challenge overturning an apparent Kevin Kolb interception, but they haven't been able to get their offense flowing. Kolb was slammed to the ground by Clay Matthews and suffered a jaw injury but has returned.

Kolb's first half was very uninspiring. He seldom had time to consider progressions, and seemed to be forcing the ball into coverage to DeSean Jackson, who had no first-half catches. At halftime, Kolb is 5-for-10 for 24 yards and two sacks. His longest completion is for 6 yards, and he has a 56.2 passer rating.

Earlier: Mason Crosby's 49-yard field goal has tied the game 3-3 with 13:52 left in the second quarter. The Eagles' d-line has sacked Aaron Rodgers three times, two by Juqua Parker, the other by Trent Cole. Antwan Barnes just left with what might be a hand injury.

And now, Ellis Hobbs is returning the first Green Bay kickoff instad of Jorrick Calvin. So why is Calvin active? Who knows.

Earlier: David Akers' 45-yard field goal has given the Eagles a 3-0 lead with 4:23 left in the first quarter, after a Joselio Hanson interception of Aaron Rodgers that Hanson ran back near midefield.

Lots of Michael Vick usuage early, including a penalty when he failed to line up on the line of scrimmage flanked wide for the Birds' first snap.

Earlier: Some surprises among the Birds' inactives for today's game against the Packers. Third-round rookie defensive end Daniel Te'o-Nesheim will not suit up today, along with defensive end Darryl Tapp, acquired in an offseason trade with Seattle for Chris Clemons and a draft pick.

Less surprsing were the inactivations of rookie linebackers Jamar Chaney and Keenan Clayton, guard Max Jean-Gilles, rookie guard Austin Howard and recently acquired OL Reggie Wells. Rookie Matt Kafka is the third QB.

One inference: Recently acquired rookie Jorrick Calvin is active as a 6th corner. This would seem to mean he is returning kicks.

Stay tuned for updates.

Shame that the vile dog drowning felon couldn't be the victim of a gruesome season (or career) ending injury. Best to L. Weaver.
