What NFC results mean for McNabb
Daily News staff
It looks as if Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is about to be invited to his sixth Pro Bowl and first since 2004.
As previously noted, players whose teams are in the Super Bowl cannot play in the Pro Bowl, now that it has been moved to a week before the Super Bowl instead of a week after.
The three NFC quarterbacks selected are New Orleans' Drew Brees, Minnesota's Brett Favre and Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers. McNabb was chosen as the first alternate.
With the Saints and Vikings still alive, either Brees or Favre will withdraw because his team is heading to the Super Bowl. (And, honestly, even if the Vikings are eliminated, we could see Favre withdrawing anyway.) That opens a spot for McNabb.
The Pro Bowl is Jan. 31 in Miami.

Another change, as pointed out by ESPN's Adam Schefter, is that the coaches of the losing team in the conference championship games are no longer the Pro Bowl coaches. Again, with the earlier game, the league did not think coaches whose teams were eliminated days before should then have to get ready for the Pro Bowl.
Instead, of the two losing teams in each conference this weekend, the coach whose team has the better record goes to the Pro Bowl. That means the Cowboys' Wade Phillips gets the NFC nod over Arizona's Ken Whisenhunt.

DrBri........favre had a good game against the cowboys...really like the guy doesnt hold to record for the most Ints and Ints in a season...or like he didnt throw 6 picks in a playoff game against the rams.......i cant wait until this city is gonna get hypocritical once mcnabb leaves and has success....look at the saints..last year they were mediocre because they threw the ball 40 times a game....in the game against arizona they had 34 runs and 32 passes...the only qb who can do good with no running game is peyton manning....with balance mcnabb is top 5 without a doubt but this city is so blind and stupid YallStupid

get rid of em, he hurts to watch...Hire a coach that has his team prepared to play and to put their heels on peoples throats. Solidify the d make em nasty like gang green, learn to run the freakin ball. Real truth you're wrong esp when it comes to this season, the talent was deep and again he failed no matter how you skin it...rwwhit jared allen would be a great pick up dudes a beast. It's way past time to let em go for gods sake take a risk and I garauntee they are still a playoff team esp. if the defense tightens up, kolb is more accurate than dmac, it was evident in the new orleans game when he threw for four hundred yards and hit desean in stride which donovan didn't do all year.. ratbirds44
It was really hard watching all these playoff quaterbacks hit receivers in stride all weekend. It's something that isn't in Mc5's skill set. Never was, never will. The West Coast offense is predicated on accuracy and yards after catch. If the Eagles bring back McNabb next year. They will get the same results as this year and last year and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that.... realtruth, are you really Wilma McNabb? What is it with you worshippers that you believe he is the only qb in the league? Brady, Favre, Brees, Werner all would have been better than 5. They are now. And all, save Brees, have rings. As usual, Mcnabb makes the Pro Bowl only because the selected qbs don't go.Only once has he made it on merit. Wake up, he is no leader, he inspires no one on the team, he faults everyone else, but himself. He has no gumption. He will never win here and I doubt he will anywhere else because whatever team he goes to will see him for the average qb he is. mike l

we've watched three other qb's step in and take andy's team on huge winning streaks. Feeley, garcia and even that forest gump dude that only owned one shirt and one tooth brush had huge winning streaks. that say Mcnabb is the only chance or best chance we have are lost. I'll cheer for him to do well wherever he goes, but great qb's are accurate and have innate self confidence that has eluded this guy, he just doesn't have the belief in self that he can deliver. If you argue that you're blind. How many years do you need to see him throw behind people,ir at the ground to see that it won't change.. how the hell do you know they are average receivers if they don't have the ball put where it needs to be? One of the biggest come from behind games farve had this year was when he hit greg lewis in the back of the endzone to beat san fran. Farve, peyton, kurt warner, drew breeze, big ben, and even sanchez are leaders. They aren't erratic in behavior, comments or play. How the f do you generalize that eagles fans are stupid or uneducated when dmac's own ex-teammates esp. his ex receivers say he lacks the leadership skills or consistency to be great? ratbirds44
This is the only city where the "fans" always want to trade the star player. It does not matter the sport. This city is just cursed with negativity. I say trade him and see how easy it is to replace a QB. Its not, but I guess you all have more insight than the team does in this matter. Bitemebiscuits
"Farve, peyton, kurt warner, drew breeze, big ben, and even sanchez are leaders. They aren't erratic in behavior, comments or play" Ratbirds44: you seem like a good guy, but you're wrong. Favre is not "erratic"???? What do you call retired, not retired, retired, not retired? Plus the guy was a drug addict. Big Ben crashed his motorcycle...WITHOUT A HELMET!!!! And he put himself in a bad position with some broad who accused him of rape. Sanchez had a script at his presser, and ate a hot dog...DURING A GAME!!! Warner's play was very "erratic" when he played for the Giants. Peyton and Brees are great QB, but even those guys aren't perfect. If McNabb would have done any of the things that Sanchez, Favre, and Big Ben did...I don't even want to think about it... PhillyHouse JayDuce
He should love that Pro Bowl, McGoo shines in games that don't mean anything??? Plus, he should get some more Chunky Soup commercials out of the exposure, McGoo and Wilma. I can here it now, Donovan, "Ma Ma why you always make me it soup out the can" Wilma "Well baby, Ma Ma knows you choke if you get near a bowl." mikey48
The Eagles need to resign Mike Vick and consider trading Donovan Mcnabb, that hurts me to say but changes need to be made. Donnie
