Herremans to have surgery

The Eagles’ revamped offensive line that has been decimated by injuries at training camp won’t be together at the start of the season, either.

Left guard Todd Herremans will have surgery to repair a stress fracture of the navicular bone in his left foot on Friday, coach Andy Reid said after tonight's game. Herremans will miss “obviously a couple of games.”

“We’ll see how it goes after the surgery with what the doctor says,” Reid said.

The injury was initially diagnosed as a stress reaction and Herremans was fitted with a walking boot. Reid said the doctors could not identify the fracture until the swelling went down.

The status of right tackle Shawn Andrews also is unknown for the opener against Carolina. Reid said Andrews will likely practice at least a little bit tomorrow.

“We’ll see how he progresses here,” Reid said.
