The Eagles have signed wide receiver Chad Hall off their practice squad to take the place of Riley Cooper, who is sidelined with a concussion.

To do so, the Eagles released defensive end Antwan Barnes, who was acquired just before the season began from Baltimore. Barnes played well in the opener and was active for the first two games, making a total of four tackles. He has been inactive for the last two games.

The team said Friday that Hall would make the trip but had not announced whether he would be signed off the practice squad. By making a late move, the team reduced the chance that Barnes would be signed by another team and he could be re-signed next week.

Hall returned to football this year after serving his 2-year commitment in the Air Force. He made an impact in the preseason and was signed to the practice squad and now gets his chance for his NFL debut.

"Mentally I’ve been studying the game plan, just knowing every position," Hall said Friday. "I’m just preparing like I do every week though, in case something happens during practice or anything like that. So it’s the same thing I’ve done every week, but now I’m just going on the trip and we’ll see what happens.”

He has been taking Cooper's reps in practice this week.

"It helped a lot. I got a little in sync with Kevin [Kolb] last week, because he did some with the scout team, so I feel good there," Hall said. "Just getting reps with the ones, and I’m just getting the feel of things.”

Asked Friday, Hall said he did not know what his role would be if active.

“I know what I’m capable of, so I’m just preparing for everything," Hall said. "Everything I did in the preseason, anyway they can use me, I’ll be ready.”
