Giants' Jacobs: Eagles wanted it more

Giants running back Brandon Jacobs did not mince words at his dismay on how the Giants played last night against the Eagles.

"We didn’t want it as badly as they did," Jacbos said. "There’s no explanation for a game like that. We didn’t play that well and they wanted it more with their backs up against the wall and they came right at us."

He added, "I’m very disappointed, I thought we wanted it but we didn’t play well. They outplayed us and they wanted it more than we did."

Said wide receiver Victor Cruz: "As an offense, I don’t feel that we played tough. I can’t speak for the defense but as for the offense, I do not feel that we played tough. I feel that we let them get the best of us in certain situations. We let them get that extra edge on us but we really need to look at this on film and see what we really have to do."

Some in the crowd at MetLife Stadium were booing the Giants.

"That’s the best thing that they do here is boo," Jacobs said. "I’m not worried about that. I’ve been here for years, that’s just what you got and you’ve got to deal with it."

In his news conference, coach Tom Coughlin used the word pathetic, especially as it relates to the run game, which the Eagles were able to shut down.

"It was absolutely pathetic," Jacobs concurred. "It was the worst I have ever experienced in my seven years. We were top three in the league (in rushing) and now we are like 30th.

“Ultimately, it’s my fault, because I’m the one carrying the ball,” he said. “But I just hope we get it right.”

The Giants and Eagles split their season series for the third time in the last six seasons. In each of those three years, the visiting team won every game. The Eagles have a five-game winning streak at the Meadowlands.

"You never want to lose a game in your division and losing a game at home is just gut-wrenching," Jacobs said.
