Here is a look at how the Eagles went from Sean McDermott to Juan Castillo as their defensive coordinator:

Jan. 15: Reports indicate that the Eagles have fired McDermott days earlier. There is no formal announcement of comment from Andy Reid, who is on vacation.

Jan. 16: The names of Dick Jauron, Jim Mora Jr. and Bill Davis surface as candidates. Also, Rory Segrest is fired as defensive line coach.

Jan. 17: McDermott is reportedly hired as the defensive coordinator in Carolina, although the team does not confirm for several days. Mora interviews with Denver and a report indicates a deal is close. That report turns out to be false.Jan. 19: <MC>Mora withdraws from consideration for both the Denver and Eagles positions. The Eagles hire highly respected defensive line coach Jim Washburn away from the Titans.

Jan. 21: Jauron is named defensive coordinator in Cleveland. The Eagles request permission to talk to little-known Saints defensive backs coach Dennis Allen.

Jan. 23: The Eagles interview Allen.

Jan. 25: The firing of Eagles linebacker coach Bill Shuey becomes public, even though he had been let go when McDermott was fired. Shuey was at the Senior Bowl, wearing Eagles garb on the sideline the previous day. Also, Allen is named the defensive coordinator in Denver.

Jan. 27: Within moments of his ouster with the Titans, Jeff Fisher is rumored to be a candidate for the Eagles’ opening. He is not, according to sources.

Jan. 28: A report in Milwaukee indicates the Eagles plan on interviewing Green Bay safety coach Darren Perry after the Super Bowl.

Monday: Bears defensive backs coach Jon Hoke interviews.

Tuesday: Minnesota defensive backs coach Joe Woods interviews. Defensive assistants for the Packers and Steelers spend Super Bowl media day being asked about coming to the Eagles.

Yesterday: In a stunner, the Eagles name offensive line coach Juan Castillo as their defensive coordinator.
