BETHLEHEM -- Across the NFL but most especially at free-agent central here at Lehigh, teams have been anticipating their free-agent signees finally being allowed to practice today, the first day of the new league year.

Just one problem. That isn't happening.

An NFL spokesman said today that the new signees can only practice after 4 p.m. Thursday, and that's providing the final details of the CBA are wrapped up and ratification is complete tonight.

Of course, there's no real hurry. The Eagles' preseason opener will still be a full week away tomorrow. The regular season? Five-plus weeks. Not like the clock is ticking or anything.'
