Eagles win the Super Bowl ...

POSTED: Saturday, June 20, 2009, 6:39 PM

No, this is not news, but you don't have to wait for the season to even start to know how it ends. That is the fun of computer simulations, if you find those sorts of things entertaining.

Paul Bessire, a friend of the Daily News, at Whatifsports.com, has run the NFL season for FoxSports.com and has the Eagles beating the Patriots, 34-31, in the Super Bowl in Miami.

The site had the Eagles play the Patriots 1,000 times, with the Eagles winning 57 percent of the games with an average score of 33-30.

Among the interesting tidbits drawn from the box score of the simulated Super Bowl are touchdowns for rookies LeSean McCoy and Cornelius Ingram and two for Brian Westbrook. The Eagles' defense holds the Patriots to only seven points in the second half and David Akers wins the game with a 26-yard field in the final two minutes.

Tom Brady is named the game's MVP in a losing effort.

Whatisports also predicts the Eagles to easily win the NFC East with a 12-4 record, three games better than the Cowboys.

Now, if only it were that easy ...

sewell guy, that's a mouthful coming from a guy who still hasn't figured out how to post on a forum yet. Na Na Na...don't even try it. There are a ton of people on here who have never done it. Stop clicking the Submit button twice you moron. It's bad enough skimming over just one of your posts.

I would love to see some sort of competency test done on a handful of commenters on this website. It begins with those of you that refer to Tom Brady as Tom "Bradley" - (that shows the level of sports knowledge you have and even worse than those that refer to Michael Irvin as "Michael Irving"). Can't some of you simpletons just realize that this is just a low level puff piece to draw interest of diehard Birds fans? And how long will it take McNabb haters out there to realize the vomiting was related to that hit he took in the chest earlier? As I like to say, some of you are just moronic.

Oh, and on the whole puff piece article, I'll take 12-4 but I'm predicting 11-5.

I would like the computer to analyze how many games the Eagles win when they give up 30+ points.

The simulation actually has them going 16-0 if you go game-by-game, but the author compiling the article added some "balance" to the analysis by "qualitatively" assigning wins and losses to avoid such wide-ranging and unrealistic results (Eagles 16-0, Vikings 15-1, etc.)

Dirty - How does it feel to beat the Patriots in the Superbowl? I think McNabb is also named the MVP for leading the Eagles back in a classic 4th quarter comeback. What a leader! So...will you be marching down Broad Street this week with the rest of the mindless McNabb clones or next week? I think you and your bong should lead the parade. Ah, yes, WHATIFSPORTS.com...where Hootie and the Eagles can always win the big one!! LMAO
