Eagles sign three defensive players

POSTED: Tuesday, February 3, 2009, 1:56 PM

The Eagles announced today they have claimed veteran defensive tackle Amon Gordon off waivers from the Tennessee Titans. They also added two Canadian Football League players to their defense.

Gordon is 6-2, 305 pounds. He had 29 tackles in 13 games over a 5-year career with the Titans, Ravens, Broncos and Browns.

The Eagles also signed linebacker Charleston Hughes and safety Byron Parker. Hughes, 6-1, 244, had 71 tackles and five sacks in 18 games this past season for the Calgary Stampeders. Parker, 5-11, 193, had 18 interceptions the past three seasons. He returned six of the interceptions for touchdowns.

Who cares! They will never win with REID. Recycle loser players. They'll cut and resign Reggie Brown any day now. Cheap losers.

Nezhy, Clarkisgod, Gigs.... do you braniacs realize that all teams, regardless of whether they're in contention for a Super Bowl, sign players known as "roster filler" throughout the year? No one in the NovaCare complex thinks they signed a guy that's getting them over the hump, in all likelihood, no one in the NovaCare complex even thinks they just signed anyone who is going to make it through training camp. I know it's quite a kick to play the role of the perpetually dissatisfied fan and all, but maybe you could challenge yourselves to do it logically?

Again, it is the same bad judgement year after year after year. I say FIRE BANNER AND REID! And they can take the dumb QB with em.

OWUMD I couldn't agree more. These are the "fans" that make all the noise. Maybe they should learn how the NFL works before offering their woe is me rant...again

bow, what are you talking about? "The same bad judgement"? These players are bodies to fill out the roster in mini-camps and training camps. Perhaps they could someday develop into a contributing player, but they weren't signed with that expectation. These guys don't count against the cap, and good players aren't even allowed to be signed for another month. Get a grip.

e-z folks... this team had a off year and look how close they got. they tried for randy moss last year, that would of been nice. the comish reconizes that we a need the "big time" player again. GET BOLDIN, sign Ward away from the giants and get a good fullback and better blocking tightend. get a complete offense that can run and pass effectively on those obvious situations. the defense is there, if we cant win the big one next year then we will definatly know who is at fault. keep the faith people

The eagles beat both super bowl teams this season. Both were solid wins! At the end of the season they beat the previous Super Bowl Champs, the #1 seed Giants at their stadium twice in cold wind weather, handily both times! Oh they clobbered the supposed super bowl bound coyboys at the end. They nearly beat the Cowboys early WITHOUT the two leading receivers on the field! The defense young as it is had an off day, they will be back better. Donavan almost pulled off the biggest comeback ever in the NFC title. Curtis missed, hey Holmes might have too, BUT Curtis was pushed down no call! Some of you guys indict the coach or quarterback> HUH, sounds like the dumb and dumber plus lonewolf! Congrads Don and the entire organization for a great season!

JACK V, Is there any part of you that realizes that none of these players will ever wear an Eagles uniform, that the Eagles front office knew this when they signed them, and that the players mentioned are themselves aware that they're only moderately closer to playing in the NFL than they were two days ago? Please, display some logic.
