Westy Out; Jordan Practices

Eagles running back Brian Westbrook has met again with the concussion specialists for a checkup and they "want to check him again in a week or two," coach Andy Reid said today.
Westbrook will not play this week against Atlanta, as expected. Westbrook declined to speak with reporters in the locker room.
He had what Reid called "a slight headache" after a workout Friday. "We'll take a look at it next week, and increase his exercise a little bit," Reid said.
Weakside linebacker Akeem Jordan, absent with a knee hyperextension the past three weeks, practiced Wednesday, albeit with the scout team. Jordan seems on track to return Sunday, which could be a huge boost for the defense.
Wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who suffered a concussion against Washington, is not listed as out, at this point, Reid said.
Jackson told ESPN.com that he "blacked out," the first time anyone with the Eagles had said Jackson was anything more than "foggy" from the third-quarter hit by London Fletcher.
Reid said Jackson was "making progress."
"I don't know about 'blacked out,' " Reid said. "He took a heckuva shot. He has a concussion."
The Eagles will "mix and match" at Jackson's position if he can't play, Reid said.
Jackson also declined to speak with reporters.
As for Michael Vick's return to Atlanta, Donovan McNabb said he expected Vick will get a "standing ovation."
He also lauded the Sixers' acquisition of Allen Iverson, saying his return is "only going to improve their backcourt."
The Eagles have signed cornerback Chris Roberson to the practice squad. He takes the spot previously occupied by wide receiver Jordan Norwood, who was added to the 53-man roster yesterday in light of Jackson's concussion. He worked out for the Eagles yesterday.
I was wondering why that name sounded so familiar. illadelphbigd
Let me get this straight... the best available CB couldn't make Detroit's 53 man roster?? Hard to believe, Harry. birds4ever
Comment removed.- Blacked out doesn't mean unconscious.

eisenreich is right. blacked out does not = unconscious. i watched the game, and that hit, several times. jackson was constantly moving...never just laid there. i'd hate to have to pull out the p-word here, but sounds like jackson is making excuses not to play. mosquito killer
Guys remember the Falcons secondary sucks.......and Ryan and Turner are both out. Not saying its an easy win but it will be an easier game than the last one. rtaylor1220

Hey Wewanta... so now he (Westy) is soft? You want to try to tackle him? He has done so much for this team over the past 7 years, how soon we forget. He is the second leading ground-gainer in Eagles history, and #1 with total yardage, and yet he cannot effectively run the ball? Whoa! I guess we have never had an effective runner, then. racn4acure
For someone who had a concussion he looked fine when he was cashing that check on Monday night at a promotional signing in Delco. StopMakingExcuses
DeSean has not fared well with contact this year. Seems every hit has made him get up either limping or groggy. Reid has to realize that Jackson is 175 lbs and cannot keep running him over the middle. Doesn't sound good for his return this week but I sure hope he's feeling fine and ready for the big game vs. the Giants the week after. bradco
Hope DeJean is back. Hope Norwood is fast and tough. It seems perhaps that running will be a nice way to allow Mac to hit some long passes. KGKoons
Wow, some of you eagles fans are hopelessly stupid. Westy's soft, Jackson is faking it and Reid is the worst coach in NFL history right? You're fools. HuskerEagleFan
Celek and Avant can take the shots running the inside routes. But Jackson is THE player in the passing offense, he has to be used in different formations. I don't know what the team can do to get the most out of him while keeping him injury free. Seed
