ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier that Eagles coach Andy Reid's contract extension could be announced soon.

The Daily News reported back on Oct. 9 that talks had begun on a new deal for Reid, whose current contract will expire after the 2010 season. This is the closest the team has allowed Reid to get to coaching free-agency since his 1999 hiring.

At the end of the game, the Eagles released a statement that read: "We're aware of the reports regarding Andy Reid's contract. The organization has acknowledged earlier that it expects to extend his contract at some points in the near future. Beyond that, the organization has no further comment."

In his postgame news conference, Reid said, “I think there was a statement put out. I’m not going to add to it. I’ve told you before, I love it here in Philadelphia, the fans. There’s not any better organization. The statement was put out and that’s what it is.”

Reid declined to answer how many years the extension would be.

As for the environment surrounding Michael Vick, Reid said: “I think everybody felt it, and rallied around him. He was one of the captains. Arthur Blank welcomed him back. My hat’s off to him. That’s a tribute to him and his organization. The fans were incredible. My hat’s up to the people for giving him a second chance.”

Asked if the situation and the fans chanting Vick's name led him to use Vick more, Reid said, “Not too much sways me, but it didn’t hurt.”

Reid said his advice to Vick was, “Just play.”

“That’s easy from my seat, but I am sure he had a little extra juice,” he said.

Vick suffered a hand contusion, which led him to come out of the game in the fourth quarter.

On the injury front, Jason Peters has a head and shoulder injury. "He went to cut someone and hit his head and his shoulder," Reid said. "He bugged me the whole game to go back in, but I don’t think it’s too bad.

On the defense, Reid said: “They did a nice job -- swarming around the ball, physical. There were some young aggressive mistakes that we have to take care of, but I’d rather have them aggressive.”
