Eagles make moves

The Eagles trimmed down to 75 players by releasing kicker Richmond McGee and placing rookie cornerback Jack Ikegwuonu on the reserve/non-football injury list.

Ikegwuonu, a fourth-rounder out of Wisconsin who is recovering from a knee injury suffered during a workout before the NFL combine, is eligible to return to practice with the team any time between Weeks 6 and 9.

All NFL teams are required to cut down their rosters to 53 players by 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The Eagles had been expected to cut defensive tackle Montae Reagor, whose locker has been cleaned out and who has returned to Texas following Aug. 18 surgery on his left knee. Reagor and the team are likely working on some sort of injury settlement, which might explain why he remains on the roster.

And for the Luke Lawton fans out there, the fullback who was cut last week has signed with the Oakland Raiders. Credit to Bleeding Green Nation.com for keeping track of him. The reason we like Luke Lawton, by the way, is this gem from the day he was acquired from the Colts when asked about the competition for the job:

“I’m just going to go out there and worry about Luke Lawton and mowing my own grass. Don’t worry about anyone else’s yard, make sure mine’s cut. Just try and do my job to the best of my ability and let the chips fall where they may.”
