Eagles interested in Bills LB, report says

POSTED: Thursday, March 12, 2009, 10:14 PM

The Eagles have contacted the agent for Bills free agent linebacker Angelo Crowell but have not made a contract offer, NFL.com is reporting. Crowell is represented by Todd France, who also represents Brian Westbrook.

Crowell visited Detroit on Wednesday and Tampa Bay on Monday, according to the report. St. Louis also has expressed interest.

Crowell, 27, missed all of last season following knee surgery and is not expected to be cleared for full football workouts until after the draft.

He apparently surprised the Bills by having the arthroscopic surgery in late August. Although the surgery would have required a recovery period of one to four weeks, the team put him on injured reserve. That issue seemingly ensured that he would not be back in Buffalo when his contract expired.

He is listed at 6-1, 246 and was a third-round pick of the Bills in the 2003 draft.

A 5-year veteran, he had a career-high 126 tackles in 16 games in 2007. His older brother, Germane, is a former NFL wide receiver.

Gotta love the Eagles front office; sign as many useless cripples in positions we don't even need filled. News flash to Jeffrey and Joe: theres a reason why these players are so readily available!!!!!!

discholt--you're the type of fan the eagles FO loves--just be competitive enough to come close-but they keep you coming back for more. The FO is playing us for chumps and its working!

What are the Eagles now running a hospital or Rehab Center?

I just had knee surgery from a skiing accident...Eagles called me last night to see if I would accept the league minimum and secretly give 2/3rds of it back to them. Anyway, I have an interview at the nova care complex tomorrow. I played high school ball so i feel pretty good about my chances.

Why don't the Philly sports writers have any "inside" sources. Has anybody noticed that during this off season every big story on the Eagles has been broken by someone outside the city. What's up with that?

Angelo Crowell is not coming off "a major injury" He is not a journeyman (he has spent his career wita one team) and he would be a solid backup. He has always been productive. New England is also interested in him. I guess they are dumb and cheap too. Tell the uninformed to either stay off the board or just stay quiet

I guess nothing the Eagles FO do will ever be right in some peoples eyes. It's not like the report said the Eagles desperately want this guy, he's a player of interest. If Philly media wouldn't oversaturate the fan base with every single report maybe people would understand that just having interest in a player doesn't make him a must sign. And what's wrong with adding depth

I can respect your opinion tothehouse because you've been through the tough times the same as me [I've suffered for 46 years]. I'm just not ready to throw in the towel until after FA and the draft are over. I'm not gonna get PO'd if they don't want to over pay for Weaver. I don't care that Dawk and Thomas are gone if their best days are behind them. I really do think that more is coming. If not, I'll gripe along with you. I just sense frustration in a lot of these guys because the Eagles have been so close so often lately. That's what is so hard for me to take. Anyhow, better this than rooting for the Bengals who are eternally lost in a maze of confusion. At least in Detroit they are put out of their misery early in the season but that isn't a good thing.

Dierte, nice to read a your comments. The unreasonable positions some of these people take are hilarious. Glad you can see that signing every Tom, Dick and Harry that comes down the pike for whatever they want isn't the best way to go. I like that the Eagles are way under the cap. Better that than up against it and not be able to make any moves later on. That's what the 'Skins do every year and it never works.

ok, this guy could just be camp fodder lets keep the young LBs in there and just focus on the draft. Boldin would be nice, but i'd rather not give up a 1st round draft pick to get him....
