Here are our grades for the Eagles' wild-card victory over Minnesota:

RUSHING OFFENSE

The Vikings’ run defense was as good as advertised and held the Eagles to 2.9 yards per carry, Brian Westbrook to 1.9. But to Andy Reid’s credit, he stuck with the run enough to at least keep the Vikings honest. Grade: C-minus

PASSING OFFENSE

Donovan Mc Nabb’s protection was shaky much of the night and he turned the ball over twice. But he completed 12 of 15 attempts in the second half, including that beautifully executed screen to Westbrook for a 71-yard TD. Grade: B-plus

RUN DEFENSE

Eagles gave up that 40-yard second-quarter TD run to Adrian Peterson, but held him to 43 yards on his other 19 carries. Fourteen of Peterson’s 20 carries went for yards or less. Grade: B-plus

PASS DEFENSE

For the third time in the last 5 games, the Eagles held the opposing quarterback to a completion rate under 50 percent. Asante Samuel’s 44-yard interception return for a TD gave the Eagles a 16-7 lead. Grade: A

SPECIAL TEAMS

David Akers booted four field goals, including three from 40-plus yards. DeSean Jackson gashed the Vikings porous punt coverage unit. His 62-yard return in the first quarter set up Akers’ first field goal. Sav Rocca had a 44.0 net average and put all 4 of his attempts inside the 20. Grade: A-plus

OVERALL

For the fifth straight game, Jim Johnson’s defense held the opposition to 14 points or less. Donovan McNabb turned the ball over twice, but turned in a poised performance. And Andy Reid stayed with the run enough to keep the Vikings honest. Grade: B-plus

*

Our earlier reports:

* Early word from the Giants

* Westbrook tough to stop, and more postgame from Andy Reid

* Wowzers, Les Bowen's rundown of the game as it happened

* Lurie: Every intention to keep McNabb

and COACHING ?? HOW DID THE COACHING RATE?? I CANT BELIEVE YOU LEAVE THEM OFF THE HOOK -- WHAT TOO SCARED TO COMMNET ON THEM?? ?? AR and Childress BOTH making some high school mistakes especially going into half time. Childress is a dead man walking in Minny.

Domo - GRADE THE COACHING yup the dSean peeling OB in the face of the punter was VERY WEAK. he definitely was tired, but giv the guy at least one juke. how about Kyle Eckle blasting UP the blocker AND the returner!! where is jr Reid? KEEP BUCK ON THE FIELD - he has been a MAJOR DIFFERENCE MAKER.

My Grades: Rushing Offense: C - don't we ever PITCH the ball to get outside quicker? Passing Offense: B - The pick was a bad call/play. We did move the ball much better in the 2nd half. Rushing Defense: A-minus - A.P. had 1 good run, otherwise we stuff him. Passing Defense: B-Plus - Yes we had the pick-six by Samuel, but we gave up too much in the first half to a really bad QB. Special Teams: A-PLUS - Akers was awesome on FGs and Kickoffs! Rocca needs to play in 70-degree weather every game. Coaching: B-plus - Pretty good overall. It looks like we finally did a better job of making halftime adjustments than the other team. Then again, maybe Childress "learned" that from Reid. Overall: A - A playoff win on the road over a team with a first-rate front seven is a good win. Officials: Where was Ed Hochuli? Those officials sucked!! Vikings had NO penalties until late in the fourth quarter! McNabb had his forward progress stopped before throwing an incomplete pass? Puh-lease. TV Crew: C - I get really tired of hear how good a job the Vikings coaches are doing despite the fact they are losing. These clowns never noticed the penalty disparity. We'll get to hear what a genius Tom Coughlin is next week. SIGH!

Actually Klecko was hurt and Buckhalter was put in there. We were yelling for him the whole game, but we didn't hear from the announcers that Klecko was hurt.

Vikes rush defense equals 75 yards per game. Eagles had 67 yards. C- is accurate.

I hope someone addresses Desean Jackson's attitude. He was jawing at Brad Childress after running out of bounds on one play. Grow up kid.

Les BowenLes Bowen has covered the Eagles for the Daily News since 2002. Before that, he spent nearly 13 years covering the Flyers. It took Les only a few seasons after the switch to figure out that there was no penalty box at the Linc, and that the time really wasn't his, despite what Andy Reid kept saying. Les came to Philadelphia and the Daily News from Charlotte in 1983. In the intervening years, he has pretty much lost track of NASCAR, and his accent.
