Eagles-Raiders report card

Paul Domowitch’s report card on the Eagles-Raiders game:
RUSHING OFFENSE: Passaholic Andy Reid fell off the wagon and called just 11 run plays for Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy. Westbrook had 25- and 9-yard runs on the Eagles’ first possession of the second half, then carried the ball just two more times the rest of the game. Grade: D
PASSING OFFENSE: A week after completing 76.2 percent of his passes against the Bucs, Donovan McNabb completed just 22 of 46 passes against the Raiders. The offensive line had no clue how to deal with the Raiders’ blitzes and stunts, the receivers dropped passes and McNabb didn’t make plays when he had opportunities.
Grade: F
RUN DEFENSE: The Raiders only averaged 3.3 yards per carry, but were effective enough running the ball with Justin Fargas to force the Eagles to stay in their base defense more than they would have liked. Grade: C
PASS DEFENSE: The Eagles gave up 224 passing yards to a guy who hadn’t thrown for more than 128 since Week 1. The Raiders took advantage of middle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter’s lack of speed on Zach Miller’s 86-yard touchdown catch-and-run late in the first quarter. Miller became the latest tight end to feast on the Eagles’ defense.
Grade: F
SPECIAL TEAMS: David Akers missed costly 43- and 47-yard field goals that would have changed the outcome of the game. Eagles didn’t get much out of their return game. Grade: D
OVERALL: When Andy Reid said he was outcoached, he was spot on. He and his staff were completely caught by surprise by the blitzes and stunts and coverages the Raiders threw at Donovan McNabb and company. McNabb was sacked a disgraceful six times by a defense that managed just nine in their first five games. Grade: F

I believe the defense gave up 13 points. This "high powered" Eagles offense couldn't score more than 13 points? Defense was not the issue, besides Jeremiah Trotter. Not that the defense was lights out, but they gave the offense plenty of chances to make something happen in the second half. Fire Andy Reid, trade McNabb and let's see if we can lure Bill Cower here to win a superbowl. I'd take Jon Gruden for petes sake. 7 step drops by the QB when the o line clearly can't block for more than 2 seconds? Bad coaching, bad QB play. Plain and simple. soilwork007

McNabb gets that lost look on his face early in a game and you know it's going to be a long day. I want someone to tell me the last time he drove the team down the field when trailing at the end of game and pulled out a win. I think Roethlisberger (who isn't great by the way)did it more last season then McNabb has his entire career. That is the measure of top level performers. I'm finished with watching the same thing year after year. dpell
I can understand having a bad day once in while. But, this team was AWFUL and I agree with soilwork007. Bring in the Chin!!! MIKEZ
Chucky! lukebonbon
FIRE PETER GRIFFITH (ANDY REID), TRADE THE DUMB QUARTERBACK (MCNABB) bow
Andy was too busy thinking of his extension to prepare his team for this game. What a joke! Keep buying those tickets and they will never get an organization that can win it all. SlinkTMP
Oakland had one big play and that was the game. Unreal. Can anyone explain to me how Assante Samuel is unable, or unwilling, to make a tackle? He whiffed on the long Oak TD and made some other embarressing attempts. He makes a few interceptions when the ball drops into his hands, but he is beyond brutal when it comes to tackling. Tar Heel 1
wow...I am still dumbfounded by this game and its 10 at night. Total embarrassment. Hopefully McNabb will be doing more of that dumbfounded look while sitting on the bench. Then the McNabb lovers will tell us how he is the best chance we have to win. No!!! Bring in the kid... crohnkiller- Go Phils!
Blah Blah Blah...a loss and everyone freaks out. Here's the facts...the EAGLES sucked today and sometimes other teams just match up well. The truth is if Green Akers does his job and makes the 3 field goals then the EAGLES win. Def Coor is still learning...McNabb was off, though he didn't drop 8 balls. Lots of football left...
