Eagles defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins found the dreaded Fed Ex envelope from the NFL in his locker cubicle today.

Jenkins found he had been fined $15,000 for a helmet-to-helmet hit, which happened when Jenkins sacked Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan during Sunday night's game.

Jenkins said a blocker was holding his legs as he lunged forward to try to tackle Ryan.

"You're fighting and clawing to try to get to the quarterback. Really, what are you supposed to do?" Jenkins asked. "This and that is being done to you and you're like, 'Man, I'm just trying to get him down.' "

Jenkins said he probably will not appeal.

"It's just funny to me that you can throw a punch and not be fined that much," he said. "In fact, I should've just gone up and punched the stew out of him and gotten fined less."

I forget that helmet to helmet is the same as face mask to face mask. I thought it was an appropriate "no-call" at the time regardless if it was Ryan or Vick.

There's not too many more advertisements they can put on these article pages before they become unreadable.

I use Chrome with Ghostery and Adblock plugins.

I had to tweak adblock to kill off the advertisement that plays every time you refresh a page.

However, the result is a page that is just pure sports and news. You'd like it.

Yeah, I use adblock and noscript. Philly.com is pretty much unreadable without it. I understand they need to make money, but they take it way too far.

The Beagles play dirty every week. Glad they got called for this one. Now I hope Vick plays and Tuck makes him a vegetable. I'm sure you goon Beagles fans will whine about this fine.

Horseshit $40K fine to Robinson for trying to decapitate Macklin after doing the same to DJax last year. There was no question that Robinson was puposely looking to make helmet to helmet contact. Jenkins had his arm up and was lunging towards the QB to make a tackle or block a pass. He was not purposely attempting to make helmet to helmet contact! Goodell is a worthless piece of mierde!

Jenkins' hit was borderline, and it was potentially dangerous to the QB, but I didn't see anything in the replay showing he launched himself with the intent of helmet-to-helmet. He went in high to try and block the guy's view and get a sack. Should be a no-call like the refs left it.

Agree with bluebellious, Robinson got off real easy. The NFL should ban him for a year if he does it again -- 3rd time.

Bluebellious is exactly right, and the NFL concussed heads need to do a better job of discerning incidental helmet contact vs intentional spearing to the head. You have to protect players, but laws need coherent and consistent application. Shouldn't be confusing and must be very clear. There were three occasions where Falcon players slammed or twisted Vick to the ground after the ball was released with no calls. There was a no call on Jenkins, yet he's fined for what was clearly incidental helmet bumping. Getting ridiculous

I don't see what the complaints are for. We were lucky not to get 15 yards for this hit and I said to my buddies at the time that he was going to get fined for it. He jumped and landed on his head. No biggy, $15k. It is what it is. I still think that Daunta should have gotten one game to send a real message though.

Jenkins was a beast Sunday Nite, I never thought he had that kind of play in him. The Eagles have to find a way to give this man a break. Jenkins and Cole ran a clinic in Atlanta. The Falcon Fans know Trent Cole and Cullen Jenkins after meeting them up close on Sunday Nite.

The Eagles should pay his fine for him in appreciation of his efforts to destroy Matty Ice. If Matt Ryan sees Jenkins on the street he'll hide behind a vehicle as to go unnoticed.
