Eagles Get to 75 With No Surprises
Les Bowen, Daily News Staff Writer
The Eagles deftly managed the four roster moves they needed to make Monday to get to 75 players, causing the raising of nary an eyebrow along the way.
Two of the moves were anticipated injury designations -- Mike Patterson went on the nonfootball illness list, because the blood vessel tangle in his brain that a surgeon sorted out technically was not an injury. Jason Peters went on the nonfootball injury list, because his Achilles' got torn in the offseason.
Both players are eligible to return between Week 6 and Week 9. If Peters returns then, it will be a miracle of healing.
The Birds stashed guard Mike Gibson on IR with a hip flexor problem. They outright cut just one more player, wideout Jamel Hamler, who actually played pretty well, toward the back of a very strong receivers group.
The next cut, down to the regular-season limit of 53, must be accomplished by 9 p.m. Friday.
As an fan, I wish the Eagles do Patterson a favor and outright cut him. Reason being is that he shouldn't even think of coming back this season. For his own good. beegal99- i think the eagles & mike patterson will leave that decision up to the doctors versus a commenter on philly.com.
- Cutting him is not better for him. PUP and then IR means that he keeps his salary and contract. Cutting him means he is unemployed. Maaaaaaybe you should leave the high finance and medical decisions to someone else.

Great picture of two people you won't be seeing this year! kissamiazz
great story. but one thing it forgot to mention - who the hell was cut? a monkey could have written a better article with more substance to it. Evil Overlord- Uh, yeah it did list the cut. Of the four moves made today only one was a cut....Jamel Hamler. The other three moves were listed as well

It says Hamler was cut and Gibson to IR. Patt and Pete make 4. tpizza
Is Evil Overlord dyslexic? A non-dyslexic monkey might have understood the moves. 1republican
I agree Beegal. Cut him, he shouldn't have any NFL dreams this season. Take care of your brain. It's your BRAIN for godsakes. Wishing you the best Patterson. carmendmv
Who cares, Friday is the important day...and Kafka better be one of them as well as some other cannon fodder... nuggett
Cliff Harris was cut yesterday, with the three pup moves and the cut of Hamler that makes the necessary five reductions to bring the team to 75. Delaware Doc
If you wanted to do Patterson a favor, you would want them to IR him. Still gets paid and then can't play anywhere this year. @cip23
Where's Vick? lonewolf 10
I think Patterson would like to heal and still collect a paycheck. Cutting him would be pretty rotten. HeelYes
