Eagles Aren't Looking to Trade Foles
Les Bowen, Daily News Staff Writer
News of Thursday's Eagles signing of former Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon arrived right around the same time that USA Today reported former Eagles coach Andy Reid would like to see the Chiefs trade for Nick Foles.
As is often the case when apparent serendipity strikes, some folks put these two events together and concluded Foles was on his way out of here, sooner rather than later.
Eagles sources moved quickly Thursday to knock down some of the more outlandish Dixon theories, letting it be known quickly that the 2008 Steelers fifth-rounder and recent Baltimore Ravens practice squad QB is coming here because he was available for nothing and he has history with Chip Kelly's offense. Dixon is hardly in some sort of anything-goes competition to be the Eagles' starter, regardless of what you might have read or heard elsewhere.

Of course, any player is available for the right price. The Associated Press reported the Eagles wouldn't consider moving Foles, a third-round rookie last year, for anything less than a first- or second-rounder. He is unlikely to command that price off his six-start rookie season, which showed promise but resulted in a 1-5 record. The Eagles' surprise one-year reworking of Michael Vick's contract seemed to give Vick the inside track on starting for the Birds this season.
ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay held a conference call Friday in which McShay said nobody in the NFL he has talked to has a first-round grade on any quarterback in the 2013 draft. If that's true, Foles' trade value might go up. But the Eagles would have to be willing to trade him.

The Eagles announced the signing of OT Ed Wang, 6-5, 315, a 2010 Buffalo draftee who played last season for the Raiders. Wang's parents were 1984 Chinese Olympians. Though Wang was born in Virginia, he is considered the first full-blooded Chinese-American drafted into the NFL.

Super Bowl in three years. hoboduck
Trade him for a 7th rd pick who's injured but has a high motor. Geno D
Foles is a great QB and i wish him the best but if he can get us a 2nd RD pick i say why not. That usually means we would get a player with more value. We have other needs and can always get another QB next year. Right now we need players with MORE VALUE and this will take 2-3years to clean up Andy's MESS. We finally have a staff that some may question their coaching abilities but i dont think anyone can question that these guys will help us really draft quality players over the next few years. WE NEED ALL THE 2ND ROUND PICKS WE CAN GET. Go EAGLES!!!!!! Yes_General
fight racism with reverse racism. lets do it!!!!!! you guys over there always hate vick no matter what. and you there, you guys hate foles no matter what. read set!!!!!!!!!!!! defroe- If Lurie treated black QBs like he treats white QBs there would be an investigation. Lurie needs to be run out of town along with this racism.
4in5out7gone - i wish all th racism and lurie were gone too but it never will be not for a very long time...

reid loves foles but that doesnt mean he needs to go with foles. what are they doing with alex smith? i think any way things break down we will continue with the bad luck that we have had for over a half a century and reid and his team will be successful just because that's just how things go... lol i hope not, but damn it man can we catch a break!!!!!!!!! defroe
Mcshay and his sources, yeah, yeah, yeah. I would bet him that Geno Smith is a first round lock. I can't see him not being picked in the top 4 considering all 4 teams need a QB. If I hear one more person repeat Lurie's assertion that you can get QB's easy now a days, I am going to puke. it is still an impossible position to fill. Name another postion that has only 8-10 players playing the position for a team capable of winning the Super Bowl. UncleStosh
This comment has been deleted. The.Pirate- They pick up a QB on the cheap and that's what you determine? I respect Vick for turning his life around but I would rather see another QB..What happens if Dixon works out? Many good QB's were mired in backup land until their shot, and it rarely happens overnight..AkA. Aaron Rodgers

I am always amazed when people comment here or any major website and say this guy is "trash" etc. I would love to see anyone go up to Vick or Foles Or any sports player in this town and make the comments to their face. If that was rule here we would have a lot less nonsense from people hiding behind their computer. If you make a statement ask yourself if you would say it to that person's face? Doubt it! Alpha58
Maybe if Donovan McNabb lost about 30 pounds (and 7 or 8 years) he'd be a good fit for Kelly's offense. SteveS11
Maybe if the Chiefs give the Eagles the same thing that the Redskins gave to the Rams. ;-) DKNJ
This is hilarious, before the story broke about Reid potentially wanting to acquire Foles, Les wrote a story about how the Eagles shouldn't trade Foles when NOBODY in the Eagles organization or fans for that matter said anything about trading Foles, basically manufacturing news. Now Les posts a story with a quote saying a source close to the situation said the Eagles "haven't even discussed moving Nick," and "want to keep Nick". He's basically confirming that his first story was a result of a journalist with nothing to write trying to stir the pot when no story existed. I'm a Les Bowen fan, but come on. JayOfDaJungle
maybe les can predict the future. defroe
