Chad Johnson, Kiper's mock draft and Mrs. McNabb

ESPN's Matt Mosley is reporting that the Giants are "looking into" the possibility of acquiring Chad Johnson, although he says the Giants are more likely to stand pat and look to add a receiver in the first round of the draft. Meanwhile, John Clayton has reported that he sees only a "20 percent chance" that Johnson is moved with the price tag expected to be a first and a third.

Mosley also has broken down the wide receiver scenarios for all the teams in the NFC East.

While he mentions all the rumors running around about Ocho Cinco and Boldin, he also says, "I sort of agree with Reid that the Eagles aren't in desperate need of a receiver, but I'm basing that on my belief in Kevin Curtis and Jason Avant. Curtis had to overcome a sports hernia last season, but he's a capable No. 2 receiver. Avant has emerged as a reliable third-down receiver. Reggie Brown has some ability, but his lack of consistency is frustrating."

In some draft-related tidbits, Mel Kiper Jr. released his latest mock draft today. (Boy, there are mock drafts everywhere these days, although Mel was among the first.) Here is his rundown of the Eagles' first five picks:

No. 28, Eben Britton, offensive tackle, Arizona

No. 53, Michael Johnson, defensive end, Georgia Tech

No. 85, Deon Butler, wide receiver, Penn State

No. 121, James Casey, tight end, Rice.

We know no matter what we write about Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb on this blog that it is met with cynicism, but McNabb used his latest entry on his Yardbarker blog to throw his support behind a worthy cause spearheaded by his wife.

Donovan as dad is a part of his life that is rarely revealed to the public. He and wife Raquel have three children, 4-year-old Alexis and 4-montn-old twins, Donovan Jr. and Sariah.

Raquel will host her second annual Philadelphia Community Baby Shower, which is May 2, for expectant monthers or mothers of newborns. Here is the link to the blog with information about the event.

McNabb also shared a very quick update from Arizona: "While I am taking a mental break from the long season, physically I'm working hard and getting ready for the 2009 football season. I want to take this time to support my wife with one of her public activities. She is always there to support me and since I cannot be at her May 2 event due to Eagles minicamp, I wanted her to know that I support her in every way."
