Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, who has been relatviely quiet this offseason since Super Bowl week, weighed in on the Birds' new additions and a number of other topics this morning on his yardbarker.com blog.
Here is what he had to say ...
It's been a terrific offseason for me. I have spent most of my time in Arizona with my wife and three kids. Having a chance to be a dad - going to my daughter's soccer games and dance recitals, and seeing the babies grow and develop; there is nothing better than that. I am truly blessed and fortunate that the American Diabetes Association will honor me and two other men in June as Father of the Year. But I'm not the only McNabb that is blessed...Saturday night my parents will be honored by the Allied Athlete Group in Atlanta for their work with the Professional Football Players Mothers and National Football Players Fathers Associations. And on Saturday my wife will hold her annual Philadelphia Community Baby Shower for expectant mothers.
Make no mistake, I've been training like crazy to make sure that I can improve as a quarterback and do everything necessary to try and win a championship for this city. I said it before, I was inspired by the way the Phillies won the World Series and how they were treated by the City and their fans and I want to experience that myself in the worst way.
Now down to some football talk.....
You'll notice that I am ready to move forward. I'm the first to admit that you must learn from your failures, I also believe that you cannot change the past. It's time to focus on the future.
As with every minicamp since I've been in the league, I'm excited about meeting my new teammates, getting to know them and working together on the field. We now have a lot of new, young skill position players and it will be exciting and interesting to see how they become acclimated to what we do here. If they can come in here and take their game to the next level, they will be productive pros and we can achieve great successes together. I want to welcome the new rookies and am excited to get to work with them.
I haven't taken the time yet to welcome some of the veteran free agents to the team. I'm looking forward to working with a new set of bookends on the o-line. Stacey Andrews and Jason Peters are young, athletic and physical. They will help in both the passing and running game. The same can be said for fullback Leonard Weaver. As for the additions on defense - Ellis Hobbs, Rashad Baker, and Sean Jones - I can't wait to see how Jim Johnson uses all the talent he has at his disposal.
I want to congratulate all the newcomers and let them know that I am excited to be working with them and taking the first step towards moving forward and getting something accomplished.

- Blah, blah, blah.....yeah, McNabb wants to win a superbowl, but he doesn't want to do the things necessary to win a superbowl. He can start by learning the NFL rules, not acting like an idiot on the sidelines when he wins a big game and learn to throw the ball with touch, so you can hit a receiver in stride more than one out of five times. - Voytas, you serious? I assume you must be kidding. Best QB in franchise history... and what, you'd rather have Jay "Crybaby" Cutler or Tony "Pretty Boy" Romo? Besides the top 2 QBs in the lague, McNabb is right up there on top of that second tier. If you can't see that then maybe you should stick to golf, because football is obviously not your game.— gaitherfan

- Voytas all McNabb has done is a take a bad franchise into one of the best for 9 out of 10 years. Do you remember Rodney Peete? Koy Detmer? Bobby Hoying? Bobby Hoying once laid on the ground waiting to be sacked, while McNabb played 3 quarters on a broken leg and threw 4 TD's! McNabb got heat from Rush, the NAACP and national media. Then he comes home to hear more stuff from WIP and that lame morning team. He has handled his self with class and been respectful practically every time. I remember when after a home game the fans poured beer on him going into the tunnel and he never said anything about it. Do you know how many sacks our defense had in 5 NFC championship games? We had a total of 6 sacks and 4 of those came agianst ATL. We had 3 full championship games without any sacks how is that McNabb's fault? Voytas you are a joke and so are all of the haters who just spit hate just to do it. To be honest this city and fans like you don't deserve a class act like McNabb yall deserve a Bobby Hoying. If yall complain hard enough maybe you will get him in the form of a Kevin Kalb— Nothing but the truth
- Donovan is the best QB we ever had but you would never guess it based on some of the stupid criticism he gets in Philly! How many NFC championships and Superbowls did the Eagles play in before he came to town. He will go down as one of the greatest players in the game but Philly fans act like he is Doug Pederson or somebody like that.— Tejayanie
- Hey Voytas, if McNabb hit a receiver "one out of five times", he'd have a completion percentage of 20%. That obviously is a stupid comment. If McNabb is a "loser", than you better be willing to call any QB who hasn't won the SB a loser, too.— PhillyHouse JayDuce
