Donovan 'Doubtful,' Stacy Andrews Not Starting
Well, Donovan McNabb's broken rib has gotten "sticky," Andy Reid said Friday, judging by the fact that McNabb feels better. That means the rib is probably no longer displaced, but McNabb is listed as "doubtful" for Sunday's home opener against the Saints. Officially, that means there's a 25 percent chance he plays. Unofficially, the chance seems far less than that.

Well, Donovan McNabb's broken rib has gotten "sticky," Andy Reid said Friday, judging by the fact that McNabb
feels better. That means the rib is probably no longer displaced, but McNabb is listed as "doubtful" for Sunday's home opener against the Saints. Officially, that means there's a 25 percent chance he plays. Unofficially, the chance seems far less than that.
Kevin Kolb again took all the first team reps, and McNabb watched only part of Friday's workout before going inside for treatment. Everyone around the team pretty much assumes Kevin Kolb is getting his first career start.
Not starting, however, will be Stacy Andrews, brother of everyone's favorite sore back sufferer. Stacy, signed by the Eagles for 6 years and close to $40 million in the offseason, said he will rotate at right guard with Max Jean-Gilles. He said that was the plan last week, but Jean-Gilles suffered a minor injury early, and the rotation didn't happen.
Stacy Andrews said his rebuilt knee is OK, but all the offseason time he missed left him with a lot of work to do to smooth out his pass-blocking sets, which under offensive line coach Juan Castillo are quite different from the techniques he used in Cincinnati.
"I know I've still got a ways to go as far as getting the technique and everything," he said. Stacy said he still hasn't really had a chance to talk to his brother Shawn, the right tackle who was placed on injured reserve earlier this week with a back problem. Reid said Shawn Andrews does not need more surgery "right now."
Stacy Andrews said he was not upset about the demotion; he expects to work his way back to full-time starting status. Though he said his knee feels strong, he had ACL surgery in January, and most players say they need a full calendar year to completely recover.
Reid could not remember any time in McNabb's 11-season career when he has started a game after not practicing at all, but "I think where he is in his career, he could do that," Reid said.
Quintin Demps (hamstring), Joe Mays (shoulder) and Todd Herremans (foot) are out for Sunday, Reid said.Defensive end Victor Abiamiri, who suffered a groin strain in Thursday's practice, is "questionable," meaning he has a 50-50 chance of playing.

Wow you gotta say its never boring with the Eagles. EaglesFlyersPhilsSixers- At least Stacy realizes technique is key on the line, unlike his brother.

Isn't Max still hurt? Nothing but the truth

If Abiamiri isn't healthy give Babin a shot; he certainly earned it. tornadoh
For those who haven't had a fractured rib, they can be pretty painful and seriously limit mobility, even for non-athletes. I hope KK plays well and that we win, so McNabb can really get healed. pj katauskas

Was not expecting that about Stacy. This line better stay in tact or we're screwed. TheMan
Sorry guys, this is gonna get ugly. 54-17 Saints. This will expose McDermott and his schemes for the rest of the NFL to see and plan for. Hatfield_ham

hatfield: ever watch an nfl game before? bobbyd24
No crack, no drugs of any kind. Wait till Monday. I will be here.. Eagles fans(including moi) are in for a let down. DB will pick those linebackers apart. Then when they bring the safetys in he'll burn them deep. Akers will miss two field goals and Aussie is gonna shank a 19 yard punt. Hatfield_ham
Mmm, ribs... rwright611
