Domo's Draft Report Card
Paul Domowitch, Daily News NFL Columnist
Here are our grades for the Eagles and the NFC teams in the draft:
Eagles
1 (13) Brandon Graham, de, Michigan.
2 (37) Nate Allen, db, South Florida.
2 (86) Daniel Te'o-Nesheim, de, Washington.
4 (105) Trevard Lindley, db, Kentucky.
4 (121) Keenan Clayton, lb, Oklahoma.
4 (122) Mike Kafka, qb, Northwestern.
4 (125) Clay Harbor, te, Missouri State.
5 (134) Ricky Sapp, de, Clemson.
5 (159) Riley Cooper, wr, Florida.
6 (200) Charles Scott, rb, LSU.
7 (220) Jamar Chaney, lb, Mississippi State.
7 (243) Jeff Owens, dt, Georgia.
7 (244) Kurt Coleman, db, Ohio State.
Domo’s Take: Graham and Allen should help a defense that gave up 27 TD passes last season. Added more speed at LB, but didn’t get a corner until the fourth round. Grade: A-minus
Cowboys
1 (24) Dez Bryant, wr, Oklahoma State.
2 (55) Sean Lee, lb, Penn State.
4 (126) Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, db, Indiana, Pa.
6 (179) Sam Young, ot, Notre Dame.
6 (196) Jamar Wall, db, Texas Tech.
7 (234) Sean Lissemore, dt, William & Mary.
Domo’s take: I love most of their picks, including Bryant, Lee and Owusu-Ansah. But they’d better hope Doug Free can protect Tony Romo’s blindside, because they didn’t draft an OT until the sixth round. Grade: A-minus
Giants
1 (15) Jason Pierre-Paul, de, South Florida.
2 (46) Linval Joseph, dt, East Carolina.
3 (76) Chad Jones, db, LSU.
4 (115) Phillip Dillard, lb, Nebraska.
5 (147) Nick Petrus, g, Arkansas.
6 (184) Adrian Tracy, lb, William & Mary.
7 (221) Matt Dodge, p, East Carolina.
Domo’s Take: Giants would have loved to have gotten MLB Rolando McClain, but settled for boom-or-bust pass-rusher Pierre-Paul. Still managed to get a starting MIKE candidate in the fourth round with Dillard. Grade: B-plus
Redskins
1 (4) Trent Williams, ot, Oklahoma.
4 (103) Perry Riley, lb, LSU.
6 (174) Dennis Morris, te, Louisiana Tech.
7 (219) Terrence Austin, wr, UCLA.
7 (229) Erik Cook, c, New Mexico.
7 (231) Selvish Capers, ot, West Virginia.
Domo’s Take: Redskins addressed their LT need with Williams. But Russell Okung probably would’ve been more Day 1-ready to protect Donovan McNabb’s blindside than Williams. Grade: B

Wow. What in-depth analysis... jibberjabber
My grade for Domo's work on the paper all year :A- TBear
The Eagles did a good job, not great, but not terrible either. Graham is getting a lot of high reviews, as is Allen, and both should be upgrades from what was at their positions last year. The Birds failed by not maximizing thier early picks and instead going for quantity over quality....maybe they get one or two more players from all those picks, maybe more, but with five picks in the first 87, they could have walked away with three or four high-probability guys that could have helped in more places. Not grabing an interior OL and CB early could cause some serious issues this year, and still don't see the young gunz breaking .500 this year. Bleue
How about a grade for Marcus Hayes' prescience regarding the Flyers-Devils series? fizzbin

Comment removed.- Fizzbin- that was pretty darn funny! I would agree and give Hayes a big 'F'! kjuggs77
The key to this Eagles draft was round 4 and round 6. Harbor - obviously I knew nothing about him. But he is apparently a pretty freakish athlete for a TE. He could help to make up for the flyer the Eagles took on Ingram last yr. Trevard Lindley - he is a press-cover CB, and specializes in man, not zone. So he fits the Eagles scheme. And he's a great cover. For a kid who is light (180), he compiles a lot of tackles - 24 in 8 games last yr. If he didn't sprain his ankle, he would have gone in the run of CB in 2nd or at the top 3rd rds. During rd 3, I was mad, b/c the CB were flying off the board. They got a good one! And they finally got a bruising runner in Charles Scott. He's perfect for a backup. Ricky Sapp is the next SAM! He fell to the 5th b/c he didn't play upright at LB until midway thru his sr. yr. But he can cover TEs and RBs VERY WELL, and he's not undersized at all for a SAM - he's perfectly built. His strength, SIZE and speed fit the SAM perfectly. montgomeryhopkins

Wow Domo, don't hurt yourself. My take: Graham and Allen immediately contribute and compete for starting position. The cost of 2 3rds takes away from Graham's pick a little bit, Allen was a solid selection at the right place and good value. Te'O has the apparent make-up to be the type of player Philly fans love to love (tough, gritty, bit of an attitude to go with some talent), let's hope he has the on field performances to go with it. Lindley seems like an Asante clone, so if that is the type of CB you like (not my preferred CB, but I am not in charge), he seems like a logical selection. Kafka is an interesting project, if he develops, he could either be trade bait or Kolb insurance as backup. If not, we wasted a 4th round pick, not the end of the world. I like the rest of the defensive players we drafted, you figure at least 1, if not 2 or 3 of these guys will develop into good to great players. Coleman shines on film, but not with measurables, could be a future SS here. Owens is a super strong prospect who should push the existing DTs. Chaney is a guy who projected to go much earlier, great all around skill set but blockable. Sapp is a classic tweener, but gets to the QB. Clayton will provide immediate depth at all 3 LBs, may be able to start at some point. On offense, Harbor and Cooper are great picks who have time to develop and you can never have enough big, pass catchers who can run in this offense. The Reddgie
I would give the Eagles An A, Giants a B, Cowboys a B+ and I would give the redskins a D because they did not make the most out of their very few picks and they drafted trent williams over okung. Okung was a better tackle and he was football ready. Redskins offensive line still sucks and they will be last in the division. briandawkins20
Wait 3 years. Grading now is all projection. Mean's nothing really.......but it is all you can do. Cowboy's think Doug Free is the next coming of Anthony Munoz. Cant Climb
Thanks, kjuggs. I didn't have a problem with Hayes picking the Devils - no requirement that everyone be a homer. My issue was his very poor REASONING behind his pick. To actually mention as even remotely relevant that the Devils had beaten the Flyers in 2 out of 3 previous playoff series (1995 and 2000 were the NJ wins by the way) was ludicrous and unworthy of any sportswriter. Such poor reasoning should always be noted for what it is - garbage. fizzbin
Nice job, Genius. Leegles- I thought the Eagles would of targeted a CB earlier than they did, but listening to some people w/ knowledge of the situation, it looks as though they are gonna move The Macho Man back to his natural CB position. Not sure if he has what it takes to be a starter or not, but that makes the Nate Allen selection look that much better...Also, I guess I'm the only one that thinks the cowboys dropped the ball on drafting Dez Bryant. Not saying he won't be a good player, but does getting another WR in addition to all the good WR's they already have make them a better team? It's not like they can trade Roy Williams for any value. Plus, given the situation, I could see some dissent between those cowboy WR divas all fighting to get theirs...It always seems like Crazy Jerry goes for the instant gratification fix that never seems to work out. But hey, I ain't complaining. JJ, keep doing that thing you do.
