Wideout DeSean Jackson addressed his teammates, then spoke to reporters before Eagles coach Andy Reid's news conference today. Here is the complete text of his remarks to the press.

"I had a long conversation with coach Reid. I’m just going to move forward with the situation. We addressed it. We talked as men. I had a chance to talk to to my teammates as well.

"It’s kind of a tough situation for myself. I just have to be a man about it and learn from everything that happened and just continue to move forward and do the best to my accountability as possible."

Asked if he apologized to the team, Jackson said:

"I addressed the team and coaches. Everybody was in there. I just explained to them the thing that I’ve been going through. Me not being myself, it’s been hard to come to work and be happy just because of everything that’s happened. I addressed it as a professional, as a man. I know what I need to do to kind of continue to better myself and put me in the best position as possible for my career.

"I hope everybody kind of can understand where I was coming from. Whatever happens happens and is deserving. We learn from it as an athlete and as a businessman. I just need to continue to do what I need to do to better myself.

Asked about a report that he felt the punishment of being inactive for Sunday's game after missing a Saturday meeting was too harsh, Jackson said: "I didn’t think it was too harsh at all. I never made a comment on it. For anything to say what I felt, this is the first time I’m speaking out on it. I never said what he did was harsh, never said it was wrong or anything. As a man, what he did, I respect him. He had to do what he did for the team’s sake and from a head coach point of view. So we’re kind of over and done with that. I kind of wish it would’ve happened different. But I can’t sit here and dwell on it. I’ve gotta continue in second half of season to do everything I need to do.

"For people to say whatever it is, they don’t know what I’m going through. I’m the one who has to come to work. I’m the one who has to be here. Everybody can have their own opinion and say it. But I’m the one dealing with it.

Asked what he is feeling, Jackson said: "I’m not gonna sit here and get into it. I think it’s obvious. Everybody knows my situation. As a professional and as a man you just have to handle things. I can admit to some things that I’ve done that I need to do better. Everything happens for a reason. Me not playing Sunday, I was able to sit back and watch the game and realize what it is. And I’m just ready to. . . whatever it is I need to do, that’s what I’m going to do. Not to make it a big deal, but I addressed my teammates and they know what it is. The outside world, everybody else, I could really care less as long as the organization and my teammates know how I feel. When I say I’m going to put it on the line and just go out for rest of the year and just continue to do what I need to do to help this team win games."

Someone asked if the contract impasse has been a detriment to his play.

"It’s not no detriment to my play. The results might not be the same (as previous years). Everybody might say (he’s got a bad) attitude or he’s not producing as well. But you have to analyze it and see what’s going on and what teams are doing besides me not getting the stats and things like that.

"Everybody knows the contract situation. As a human being, these are just things you have to go through in life. I realize what it is and am just ready to continue and go forward. Whatever I’ve done in the past is over. I’m just gonna continue to handle my business like I need to do. Regardless of what anybody else says about it, I could care less about it. I know what I need to do and I’m gonna make it happen.

Is it true he overslept Saturday? "It don’t matter what happened. I missed the meeting and my punishment was my punishment.

Asked about teammates' reactions, Jackson said: "Everybody understands what it is. It’s a tough situation to go through. Regardless of anything, it’s tough. Knowing what I need to do to continue on this season, I’m going to do it. I’m not sitting here saying I’m going to do anything else, but besides do my job and do everything I’m asked to do."
