DRC: Ankle Ligaments Torn

Andy Reid said corner Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie suffered a high ankle sprain on a second-half kickoff return Sunday, but Rodgers-Cromartie told reporters outside NovaCare today that he also suffered torn ankle ligaments.

DRC, who was wearing a white walking boot, wouldn't venture a guess on how long he might be sidelined. Several weeks would seem likely.

"As I went through the wedge, somebody rolled on it," Rodgers-Cromartie said.

He said he would only wear the boot "for a few days, until I start walking better."

Rodgers-Cromartie notched his first sack as an Eagle Sunday and was probably playing his best game of the season when he was injured. This was right after looking lost in last Monday's loss to the Bears.

'It's very disappointing, coming off a game like that, basically starting to feel better about the plays," he said.

In this case the responsibility is all on Jackson, not Reid. Andy needs to go, but he sitting Jackson for missing a meeting was the right thing to do.

No, DRC was only returning kickoffs. Smith and Maclin returned the punts (and they were terrible, BTW).

Vick has a PHONY broken ribs story...it's just another Eagles excuse for Vick's pathetic play...besides, Tony Romo last month had two broken ribs PLUS a collapsed lung, and Romo went back into the game and WON....Romo has never missed a game this seaso with those broken ribs.

SOFT, SOFT, SOFT. Do we have ONE hard-nosed, hard-hitting player on either side of the ball (with the exception of Shady)? The entire coaching staff needs to be replaced immediately with a message to these b!t¢h @$$ excuse for pro football players that they are all playing for their jobs next year. As a lifelong Philly-born and bred Eagles football fan, I'm so p!$$ed to know that an owner like Jerry Jones would NEVER stand for something like this (ex. see firing Wade Phillips last year) and that our owner is too much of a coward to make the right call. GROW SOME B@LL$, LURIE.

CB4 - cole and babin look pretty good, aside from babin's penalties. on the o-line, i'd say peters and herremans are living up to expectations and playing very well. and mccoy is great (when they actually use him).

No doubt. I love Trent Cole. And, yes, Babin, Peters and Herremans for the most past have played pretty well. However, I was at the game yesterday and swear Babin wasn't even playing. You never saw or heard his name mentioned once! And didn't Peters also got abused last week by Peppers? Jim Johnson must be rolling in his grave! This team doesn't intimidate anyone anymore!

I don't think the injury to Vick is fake. It was a matter of time before something like this happened to him. Once he learns to either run and get what he can get and get down or just throw the ball away he's going to get hurt. At this point with the Eagles being out of playoff contention, rather he plays or not really doesn't matter. I agree with those who thinks it's time for a new coaching staff. Reid is on borrowed time and needs to go.

With the exception of Phil Sheridan, every sports writer in town is dancing around the real issue and avoiding the obvious: Andy Reid has failed since 2009 and now has brought this team to a level below mediocrity to the laughing stock of the NFL. He has to go as Sheridan said in the Inky today.

Jeffrey Lurie needs to "man up" and do what Jerry Jones has done in the past when Cowboys teams reached the point where the coaches were superfluous. Jones has made changes, most for the better, and he does not accept mediocrity in either his coaching staff or players.

This season is now over, it's only a matter of going through the motions of the last 7 games. What does it matter if we finish with a 3-13 record or 7-9? Vick is out for....? DRC is out for ....?

Lurie should (1) fire Reid now; (2) bring in Bill Cowher to make some patchwork changes while he gets the hardnosed players ready for 2012; (3) sit DeSean Jackson for the rest of the year, don't renegotiate his contract and trade him for an immediate impact linebacker plus draft choice(s) in 2012; (4) let Vick play backup to Kafka and/or Young to see if they are the QB of the future.

If Reid is here in 2012, there will be some empty seats at the Linc. Maybe then Lurie will wake up.

Cowher is not coming here and he sucks anyway. It took him even longer to win a SB in Sh*tsburg.
