You know you're deep in the playoffs when the NovaCare auditorium starts filling up with reporters from all over the country. So it was yesterday, when Andy Reid, Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook and Brian Dawkins took their weekly strolls across the stage. Most notable was McNabb's relaxed, engaging session.

Asked about getting better as he gets older, McNabb said: "Fine like wine, baby."

"The cop-out at times is, people say, 'He's getting too old,' or 'He's not able to do the things he was able to do back five years ago. None of us can do the things we did five years ago -- not even you guys," McNabb said. "Some of you are writing slower than you did five years ago. The stuff you talk about in the paper just don't make sense. Some of you are dressing kind of funny. But ... really, that's just something people can just cling on to say, and then everybody goes with it. Then you have Vinny Testaverde, almost 44 years old, coming in and winning a game. You have Kurt Warner (who turns 38 in June) being, really, second in the MVP, putting up almost 5,000 yards. It's really the position you're in ... Thirty-two years old is really not old. That's really at the prime of your career. Some of you guys sitting here wish you were 32 -- I'll tell you about it, it's fun."

McNabb talked about making his offrseason home in Arizona, where he trains with several Cardinals players.

"Ken Whisenhunt, the head coach, is a guy that lives just a couple of doors down from me," McNabb said. "(Safety) Adrian Wilson lives a couple doors down from me. (Defensive end) Bertrand Berry is a guy I communicate with frequently, (wideout) Larry Fitzgerald -- I have some friends on the team. We've talked consistently. I'm just really happy about the success that they've had, and happy about this opportunity" to play a big game in Arizona. McNabb acknowledged, though, that he first envisioned playing a big game at University of Phoenix Stadium when it hosted the Super Bowl, a year ago.

In other news, Andy Reid said he expected wideout Jason Avant (knee) to take part in at least part of today's practice, and that Avant "should be fine for the game."  Reid said that as usual, right tackle Jon Runyan and running back Brian Westbrook, who suffer from persistent knee problems, would not practice today. The Birds once again worked indoors with simulated crowd noise. Reid said right guard Shawn Andrews (back) would be able to pick up the pace of his rehab this week, but Reid said Andrews would "probably not" be ready to play this weekend.
