Birds Rolling at Half

Updating: A 45-yard David Akers field goal makes it 20-7 Birds at the half. Third-down conversion attempt ruined when sub center Nick Cole shotgun snapped the ball off LeSean McCoy. Donovan McNabb fell on it to salvage the field goal try.

McNabb is throwing the ball as well as he ever has -- 15 for 19 for 242 yards, 2 touchdowns, 153.8 passer rating. Brian Westbrook five carries 23, yards. Brian Dawkins, not much of a factor; missed a tackle on a long McCoy screen.

Earlier: Broncos on the board, nice drive that included a fourth-down conversion. Birds up 10-7, just getting the ball back, runback mixup fells Macho Harris at the Birds' 12. Long way from some points. And now, not so much. Brent Celek wide open for catches of 34 and 47 yards, the latter for a TD, and it's 17-7, home team. Where was the free safety on that last one?

Earlier:  Probably the right call, negating Dimitri Patterson's touchdown on the lateral that turned out to be a forward pass. Then the Eagles should have had points on their first drive, but Elvis Dumervil blasted Donovan McNabb as McNabb set up to throw on third and 7 from the Broncos' 19, and McNabb fumbled. Denver's Darrell Reid recovered.

Broncos' offense isn't going anywhere early, though. Birds just got the ball back, and Shady McCoy went 39 yards with a screen, blowing through a Brian Dawkins tackle.

Uh-oh. Jamaal Jackson, the only Eagles offensive player to play every snap this season, is down and out. Left knee injury, return questionable. Nick Cole is the center now, Max Jean-Gilles the right guard.

But the drive continues and DeSean Jackson scores on a third-and-goal pass from the 2

Earlier: The cheers began to build a couple introductions before the PA announcer got to Brian Dawkins, because Dawk was visible, coming out of the tunnel --- Andre Goodman must have wondered why folks in Philly were so happy to see him. No. 20 did not disappoint, executing a backward somersault into a handstand, as the fans gave one of the all-time great Eagles a standing ovation.

Earlier: The Eagles' inactives are up on a lovely afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field, with no huge surprises. The return of Jeremy Maclin means Kevin Curtis is out today -- guess Reggie Brown must be doing reasonably well out there in his limited action. Safety Quintin Demps, who had to leave Friday's practice with ankle problems, also is inactive.

CB Geoffrey Pope, OL Stacy Andrews, OL Mike McGlynn, TE Martin Rucker, DT Trevor Laws and third QB Michael Vick round out the list. Vick is unlikely to see action with a bruised quad, but he is available as an emergency option.

Stay tuned.
