Although Sports Illustrated's Peter King is no friend of Eagletarian, we know that interest remains high on the issue of the Eagles and a top-flight receiver.

King talked to Bengals coach Marvin Lewis, who is insisting that the Bengals' stance on Chad Johnson's contract demands will not change. Writes King:

And they're digging in with Chad Johnson, who says he wants out of Cincinnati after playing two seasons in a 2006 renegotiated contract with four years left (at $3 million, $4.5 million, $5 million, $6 million.

"We've made it clear what the stance is,'' Lewis said. "It's not going to change, today or in August, whenever. You cannot allow a player to get up on his high chair with four years left on his contract and demand to get out. If you do that, you set a terrible example for the rest of your team, and we won't do that.''

We will see how that goes in Cincinnati, but even if the Bengals move Lewis that does not mean he is coming to Philly.

Also, in scanning around the Web, we noticed a report in Dallas that says the Cowboys will be the team featured this summer on HBO's Hard Knocks series. Just what Philly fans want to see: more TV time for TO, Romo and Jerry Jones.

Roy Williams or Anquan Boldin. Offer up Lito and the #1 for next year that we got from Carolina, or some combination. Chad is another TO turd.

I don't want him either. If the Eagles could just take a page from the Flyer's playbook and play inspired team football with different players stepping up each week to make heroic plays to win...the Eagles could win it all.

"Chad is another TO turd.".......Um, last I checked, the only time in almost three decades the Iggles got to the SB was with a turd.

Eagles will indeed win it all if they keep Lito and play a 4-3 and a 4-2 defense. This team is stacked. They have arguably the best running back in the NFC. They have a mid career proven QB that has experience but needs to stop being the class clown and get serious. They have a three TE set that is better than any other teams three TE's. They have the best defensive secondary bar none. A good O-Line A good D-line Young playmaking LB's The wideouts are overlooked, but Curtis had over a thousand yards receiving last year and Reggie Brown made big catches and is getting better every year. And lastly they really improved in their special teams. I am thinking Super Bowl run here.

Pgf1400, man you live in a fantasy world. I suppose you agree the Sixers don't need a number 1 either to be a contender...

ROCKIN ROB YOUR RIGHT ON POINT MY FRIEND... THIS TEAM IS THE DEEPEST TEAM WE'VE HAD IN A FEW YEARS... NOTHING LESS THEN A SB APPEARENCE THIS YEAR WILL DO... WE ARE UPGRADED AT EVERY POSITION EXCEPT WR BUT CONSIDERING THE WR'S ARE A YEAR OLDER, WISER, STRONGER, ALONG WITH THE TE'S DEVELOPING AS WELL AS ADDING LORENZO BOOKER AND DESHAWN JACKSON AS A PLAYMAKERS ON ST AND IN THE PASSING GAME, MAN WE SHOULD BE IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE THIS YEAR... NOW TRASNLATING ALL THE TALENT ON TO THE FIELD IS ANOTHER THING... BUT I THINK THEY WILL BE READY TO PLAY... DAWK, RUNYAN, TRE' THOMAS, DONOVAN, WESTBROOK, AND THE REST OF THE LEADERS ON THIS TEAM WONT ALLOW ANYONE TO SLACK... OH AND ALL THE $HIT TALKING ABOUT CHAD JOHNSON WITH ALL THE THUG AND HE'S FROM THE GHETTO REMARKS ARE UNCALLED FOR... IF WE HAD HIM YOU JOKERS WOULD BE RIDING HIS WOOD SO DONT ACT LIKE THE MAN CAN PLAY THE GAME AND BE ONE OF THE BEST AT IT IF WE HAD HIM!!!

have we not learned our lesson? Stay away from this guy like the plague

Did we not learn from the T.O. saga? Sure, the first year was a fun ride, but look what happend after. Although I am not the biggest fan of Andy Reid, I agree with his strategy to bring in character / team players. I just hope he and his administration has something up their sleaves before the season starts!

The last time we had a player every one knew was a problem, we were in the Super Bowl. That was the most fulfilling year I had as an Eagles fan in over 20 years, so I don't care how much they sell Brown and Curtis...We have "EYES" like we had in 2004..without a legitimate no. 1 receiver like Chad Johnson..we'll never see a super bowl again.

you folks are truly knuckleheads...to compare "ocho" to t.o....they're totally different people......remember that all black wr's are not the same....so get your facts straight...compare careers...& then tell me how are they alike...on the field & off.....! go birds!

We don't need a wide reciever yet we'll have a logjam at corner to stop other teams No 1 receivers....hypocrisy at it's best.

I agree that Chad would be a poisonous acquisition. We already got B-West (rightfully so) and Lito (Inexplicably) upset with their contracts. Bringing in another complaining cancer is not what 5 meant by "playmakers". As far as Dallas being on HBO... Every team that's been on that series has turned around and missed the playoffs that year so more power to ya Big D!

We all know that we need a receiver. But think about this. Samuels and lito at the corners and Dawkins and Browne at safety. Browne could easily move to safety. The linbackers look great going into this season and the line now has depth. Keep the ball on the ground and depend on the D to keep the game close

Chad Johnson ? Haven't we learned anything from the escapades of Terrell Owens ? Johnson's worse than Owens.

It's really sad that such a big deal is made of people on the same team not getting along. The soap opera was fun as a recieved he was the best we ever had. During a game TO and Donavan never missed a beat. They never dogged it during a game. I'd welcome him or Chad in a heart beat. We would have a blast between games with the soap opera. I think TO, Chad and of course Donavan all have grown form this and I feel we are so close to being a great team that for at least one season Chad would be a great pickup. It doesn't look like he is going to be available to us anyway.

I agree with Marvin Lewis's assessment. It's time someone took a stand on these types of mouthy overpaid NFL Players. Its a team game that WR's like T.O and Chad Johnson forget. If it wasn't for the other 10 players on offense he would not receive the ball or all that money. Way to go coach.

Sorry gsul2008 but I have not seen nor read anything that quotes Lito as saying he will not play here. I think between my post and acekassim's post we spell out the depth in detail. You may love message boards and blogs but unless you read them you are never going to learn anything. I mean to ask "where is the depth" when it is right in front of you, makes me think you have a learning deficiency and need to get it checked. I mean do we have two monkeys on this board?

Unless the Eagles get a decent pass rush going then they Eagles aren't going to win. Period. They need pressure from the front four for Jimmy Johnson's blitz scheme to work. Pressure on the quarterback causes turnovers. This never happened last year but I don't think it was the fault of the secondary. It was the lack of pressure. The blitz wasn't getting to the QB in time.
