Breaking down the Eagles' roster
Daily News staff
The Eagles have finished up their offseason OTAs and will not reconvene until the July 26 start of training camp at Lehigh.
The roster stands at 80 players and the Eagles will have some decisions to make come cutdown time, although they also will have information from training camp and preseason games to make those calls.
NFL teams needs to be at 75 players by Sept. 1 and then down to 53 by Sept. 5. The Eagles open Sept. 13 against Carolina.
Here is how the 80-man roster breaks down right now:

And just to clarify the point after reading some of the comments below, there is a long way to go before the Eagles have to come up with a final roster and they could potentially add players between now and then. The idea here was to give you a sense of what they have to work with as they try to craft the 53-man roster, where they have depth and where they don't appear to. Believe us, there will be plenty of analysis to come, including an entire special section devoted to training camp.

A lot of attention has been given to all sorts of rankings. Rick Gosselin, the highly respected football writer for the Dallas Morning News, listed his offseason rankings today. He has the Eagles third behind New England and the New York Giants. Here is what he said about the Eagles:
The Eagles have won an NFC-high 92 games this decade on the broad shoulders of Donovan McNabb, who went to his only Super Bowl with Terrell Owens. Other than that season, McNabb has been throwing to a cast of no-names this decade. We've all wondered how good McNabb could be if he had some legitimate weapons on the flank. Eagles coach Andy Reid has finally decided to find out, using premium draft choices on speedy WRs DeSean Jackson in '08 and Jeremy Maclin in '09. Final '08 ranking: 12
Major yawn. Too many of the writers are "mailing it in" and/ or are too cynical and sarcastic when they do write. Whether jealousy, hatred, or their own tenuous job situations are the reason(s), it's certainly a disturbing trend. billt
The Inqy journalists spend too much time on fictional articles about Kevin Kolb becoming the Eagles #1 QB, and not enough time researching the rest of the team. Copernicus
Relax people, training camp hasnt even started yet but you want this article to show who will stay and who will go? This article saved me time and showing the names of everybody at each position. You guys complain entirely too much. pdditty
agreed. what about a projected depth chart and who's likely to end up on the practice squad ... we depend on you guys for day to day info out of the OTA and what you've given us means little to nothing. no wonder the newspapers are folding! Elagins
Yeah, I was hoping for some analysis -- where are the interesting position battles, how many WRs they'll keep in a stacked lineup, etc. Oh well. FKD215
Keep up the good work going so in depth on this article. Labor of love, I see. Why have a blog if you don't put any interest or love into it. Blogs are for topics people love to talk about. You could have made this a running feature with just a lil bit of insight. I'll be glad when we consolidate newspapers because the racket you guys are running is criminal. All this complaining about people losing jobs should be a sign to step your game up, yet you'll be the first in line to complain about an athlete giving a half-assed effort. Newspapers, you're giving a Ricky Watter's when all people keep wondering why they should buy a newspaper: For who? For what? skinnyrattler
Wow, they actually read these comments - they changed the order of the quarterbacks to alphabetical. It is disappointing that, with all the resources and access the Philly papers have, the best Eagles news comes from resources like igglesblog.com and (occasionally) gcobb.com. I'm not affiliated (or a commenter) on either, but they just get into the details so much more than the newspaper guys. BroadcastingWisdom
Some writer for the Dallas Morning News has the Eagles ranked behind the Giants? I don't get it. The Eagles beat the Giants twice last year and had a better off season than the Giants. p-diddy
This is actually one of their better ones....not a high bar to top, however. amblereagles

Gee, what happened to Sam Swank? KGKoons
Are you getting paid for this ?? ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZb MJPD345
"Posted by Daily news staff?" How about opinion on who you think will make the final 53 instead of just a list from the Eagles webiste? Unreal-you guys get paid for this? Dr. Michael
Don't they usually rotate 6 tackles? HandNik
