Eagles first-round pick Brandon Graham has a torn ACL and will need surgery, coach Andy Reid said.
Reid said he did not have information yet on when the surgery would be and who would perform it.
Graham was selected with the 13th overall pick in the first round.
"That’s a tough thing," Reid said. "He’s got a positive outlook on it. He just wants to get done what needs to get done and get the rehab going and get back. ACL, especially the first one, they are tough rehab. You don’t know what to expect. You have to put a lost of trust in the trainers and the doctor. ... He’s a tough kid. He will work through it and he’ll be back. He’s disappointed but upbeat."
Also, Stewart Bradley will not need surgery on his dislocated elbow but will be out a few weeks and perhaps more, Reid said.
“We are not going to put him on IR,” Reid said. “We have to get a feel on how long this thing takes.”
Reid said no decision has been made on who will replace Bradley, but Jamar Chaney played in Bradley’s place last night.
“He wasn’t shy with his calls. He was accurate,” Reid said. “He played physical football. His challenge now is that people have him on film, he will need to get it up another notch.”
Asked if it was an open competition between Chaney and Omar Gaither, who was inactive against Dallas, Reid said, “I haven’t had a chance to talk to Sean [McDermott] about it. I don’t want to tell you one way or another, but I will tell you he played pretty good.”
Keenan Clayton has a hamstring strain and will miss at least a week.
Winston Justice and Asante Samuel “had a good thorough workout today. We’ll see how they do as they start the week here. They should be back to practice and ready to go.”
Reid said he did not think Samuel’s injury was more serious than they initially thought.
“We went back in and MRI’d it last week to make sure we weren’t missing something last week,” he said. “An offensive lineman, someone who is not running and cuts like he cuts could have played … It takes time. They are all different. No one wants to be out there more than Asante. This guy doesn’t want to miss games. That’s not his deal.”
Reid said Vick’s thumb was fine. Vick banged his hand on a helmet and threw an interception.
