Eagles first-round pick Brandon Graham has a torn ACL and will need surgery, coach Andy Reid said.
Reid said he did not have information yet on when the surgery would be and who would perform it.
Graham was selected with the 13th overall pick in the first round.
"That’s a tough thing," Reid said. "He’s got a positive outlook on it. He just wants to get done what needs to get done and get the rehab going and get back. ACL, especially the first one, they are tough rehab. You don’t know what to expect. You have to put a lost of trust in the trainers and the doctor. ... He’s a tough kid. He will work through it and he’ll be back. He’s disappointed but upbeat."
Also, Stewart Bradley will not need surgery on his dislocated elbow but will be out a few weeks and perhaps more, Reid said.
“We are not going to put him on IR,” Reid said. “We have to get a feel on how long this thing takes.”
Reid said no decision has been made on who will replace Bradley, but Jamar Chaney played in Bradley’s place last night.
“He wasn’t shy with his calls. He was accurate,” Reid said. “He played physical football. His challenge now is that people have him on film, he will need to get it up another notch.”
Asked if it was an open competition between Chaney and Omar Gaither, who was inactive against Dallas, Reid said, “I haven’t had a chance to talk to Sean [McDermott] about it. I don’t want to tell you one way or another, but I will tell you he played pretty good.”
Keenan Clayton has a hamstring strain and will miss at least a week.
Winston Justice and Asante Samuel “had a good thorough workout today. We’ll see how they do as they start the week here. They should be back to practice and ready to go.”
Reid said he did not think Samuel’s injury was more serious than they initially thought.
“We went back in and MRI’d it last week to make sure we weren’t missing something last week,” he said. “An offensive lineman, someone who is not running and cuts like he cuts could have played … It takes time. They are all different. No one wants to be out there more than Asante. This guy doesn’t want to miss games. That’s not his deal.”
Reid said Vick’s thumb was fine. Vick banged his hand on a helmet and threw an interception.

The Giants play Minnesota tonight in what is expected to be a full Ford Field in Detroit. Some fans could be turned away. The Giants have been on the road since Saturday and will come home after the game tonight, with the Eagles looming.
"We’re going to get the Giants’ best shot," Reid said. "We know that. Whether they are playing Monday night or Sunday, it doesn’t matter. They are strong group mentally. They will handle their game tonight like it’s a Monday night game … I don’t think it will have an effect."

- Not good news.
Finish 2nd in the NFC (barring a Falcon collapse), earn a bye, can Stewart Bradley be back in 4 weeks ? evilbuzzard- With a dislocated elbow? Probably not, but depends really.
Comment removed.
The team has to allow rotations with Chaney and Tapp,Graham's spot, Teo, and others so film does not nail them to one type of rushes or play. I thought Chaney did well. Koons- It seems as if every team in Philly has to overcome injuries, but end up giving it their all to finish first anyway. The Flyers and the Phillies after them came up just short with major injuries to key players. Most people don't realize how good a coach Big Red is, with respect to instilling a value in his team of confidence, no matter who starts. He makes it seem like the Eagles have great depth, changing players interchangeably, when there is an injury. The truth is, it takes preparation, and good coaching to keep a team with injuries competitive. Hope Graham can come back like Bradley from the knee injury, as rehab is really tough from an ACL, and that Bradley can somehow make a tackle in 4 weeks, with arm that was dislocated at the elbow. Go EAGLES!!
so if you play for the eagles do you have to either have or get a knee injury? seriously worst luck ever. sasquatches
Chaney looked good. Please don't start Omar Gaither. It looks like a different D (worse) when he is at MLB. section117
I don't even consider Graham to be a loss. He has provided very little production while he's been on the field. He has a total of 13 tackles and 3 sacks. Darryl Tapp who has had one tenth the amount of playing time that Graham has had has 18 tackles and 3 sacks. Graha,m is a 3-4 OLB not a 4-3 DE and this injury will not set back what little production he provided at least two years. FYI Jason Babin who we let leave via FA now has 45 tackles and 10 sacks with the Titans and Chris Clemons who we traded has 42 tackles and 9.5 sacks. Thanks Howie. datbo215
sounds to me like we just upgraded the MLB and DE postions. fishthing
here we go again. another rash of injuries that will keep us from winning a super bowl... pbowers
sad news for graham, he is essentially out for this year and next since a DLineman who depends on footspeed will not recover enough to make much of an impact next year. i'm not sure the eagles will miss him much since he was too small to begin with and lost his starting job to parker. bradley will be the bigger loss if chaney can not step up. chaney was the fastest LB in the draft this year, but still small. barrywil- @fishthing, you're right on the money. Bradley couldn't cover the T.E. BEFORE his knee injury and was a Weak tackler before his elbow injury. Graham's a tougher one. Rookie D.E.'s rarely make an impact, hopefully this doesn't stunt his future too much
The Philadelphia Eagles: tops in the league at drafting rookies who get injured in their first season. Hemingway- @ barrywil, Chaney is a small L.B. who plays big as Bradley was a Big L.B. who plays small. Could be an upgrade
