Boykin's back; Chip still not thinking playoffs

Corner Brandon Boykin has cleared the NFL's concussion protocols, Chip Kelly said. Boykin took the field for practice Thursday. Kelly did not want to discuss whether not making the playoffs, at this point, would be a disappointment.

Brandon Boykin returned to practice Thursday and presumably will face the Chicago Bears Sunday night, giving a big boost to the Eagles' flagging secondary.

Eagles coach Chip Kelly said Boykin has cleared all the NFL concussion-return hurdles. He was injured returning a kickoff in last Sunday's loss at Minnesota.

Kelly was not interested in discussing whether his first year here will be a success with or without a playoff berth. The Eagles can win the NFC East by winning at Dallas Dec. 29, or if they beat the Bears this week and the Redskins defeat the Cowboys.

"I'm not thinking about that," Kelly said. "If we lose to anybody, it's a huge disappointment. That's the way I've always approached it."

Kelly also said the biggest difference between coaching in college and in the NFL is that there is no huge disparity in talent between teams, most week the team that executes best wins. He said he likes that, as a competitor.

Re the Bears this week, Kelly said the toughest thing about preparing for their offense is that they do so many things well, you can't just key on one player or one aspect.

Kelly praised outside linebacker Trent Cole, a "great effort player."
